Funny not a replacement at all. I have had a BH kit for a while  .

That makes two of us. I could only afford half a Pacer to fill the gap. I figure its shortcomings will motivate me to finish the Bearhawk.

You'd better be careful given that you already have the most sought-after bird on BCP. 8)

I have a bearhawk, or bearchicken, or mooseptarmigan (or is that moose ptarmigan), or whatever you call it, and I admit, I look fondly on the 180, so that caught my attention too....

How far along are you? Any cool deviations from plans that are worthy of note? The BCP BH crew is always talking about better ways to skin the cat, I mean hawk....

I'm local to Anchorage so I'll be having a cold one with the BCP crew in May. See you then!

20?? 4 place Bearhawk

Re: Lurkers - 2019... Its your time

Looking forward to meeting people at ANC. The 180 has taken a ton of time and resources over the past two years. I was suppose to hit the BH hard the winter. Like Zane implied the 180 is kinda additive and very capable.

Thank you all for contributing to such a fantastic community.

I will try my best to add to the mix in 2019 and beyond.

Re: Lurkers - 2019... Its your time

I've had a bunch of folks contacting me on IG lately for this and that... I always point them this direction for info. Most of the time they say that they already read... but are "shy" and haven't posted yet.

Here's your chance... time for the yearly Lurker call!

Posted a reply a few hours ago and it was zapped by the internet.

Long time lurker (only a few posts thus far).

I’m a student pilot and keep circling about topics on this forum—fascinated. I’m 100% guilty of IG questions.

Looking forward to learning more. I’m kinda jumping right in planning my first across the country cross country.

Thanks! Not sure what I can contribute (still a bit green in aviation) but I’m learning as fast as I can. Aviation certainly keeps me on my toes (love it).

Re: Lurkers - 2023... Its your time

Guilty as charged. I even had to read the “content policy” before posting.
I live near Bigrenna, and the BCP spell was cast 4 years ago when I was foolish enough to say yes to a complete restoration and modification of a 170b. I mean complete. When it feels right I blame him and this community for my total disregard for the value of prudent life choices, but at night, trying to fall asleep counting dollars and rivets, I recognize and accept my own responsibility and choices. This aviation thing is a practice in panic and acceptance.
I value the info here, have learned a lot from you all, Greg has been a solid mentor, a friend, and a tease. Im close to finishing what I consider the nicest super170b I’ve seen. Maybe one day I’ll show a few pics so I can prove it.
And if hear “why didn’t you just get a 180” you can go Zoom yourself.
Happy to be on board.

Re: Lurkers - 2023... Its your time

Ya got me.

Been "lurking" for years now. Honestly I don't really have anything worthy of contributing at this point, but I suppose I will babble for a bit nonetheless.

I've had the itch for as long as I can remember. My itch was for a cub and cub-type flying. Problem is money. I work hard and often, but airplanes suck up alot of money and finding a balance with finances is always a tricky thing, especially with a young family. I met a guy at my buddies wedding several years back who gave me the push that I needed. He was no better off financially than me, and he was able to make it work, so why couldnt I?

I made it a goal at that point to own an airplane outright by my 30th birthday, and I started saving. I decided to wait until I had funds in full to buy an airplane with cash, as well as the flight instruction and associated costs to get my PPL, as opposed to starting lessons in a rented plane. Figured I could save some funds in rental fees as well as gain some proficiency in my own airplane by waiting. Well, at the beginning of September of this year I took the leap and purchased a 1941 Piper J5a cub cruiser that's been fitted with a lycoming 0290-D. I turn 30 in March.

My journey has begun and I am through the roof estatic to get going.

P.S. Anybody in western Montana feel like flying a primitive cub 220 miles to Dillon for me? As it turns out I don't really have a network of flying buddies to help me get it home and my flight instructor is slam busy lately with some recent staffing developments at my airport.
