My new Skywagon! Let the mods begin!

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Rivets look much better than screws IMHO, but this makes a lot of sense.

My tip is to just stow them when they're not actually in use.
Your huevos, errr upper thighs will be safe that way.

Re: My new Skywagon! Let the mods begin!

Just to confuse things, on my 180 project I plan to use rivets as I have the aft tail cone access panels sold by Tony at Aeropod if I need access. I think rivets look more professional than screws. Not quite as tight in the tail cone of a 180/185 as a 170 if you need to do something.

It's amazing how I'm finding stuff I miss that I had put in my previous 185. For instance, Precise Airflow Vents and Rosen Sun Visors. Two more mods I need to install. Ordered.

I'm so pleased. Gone are the Monarch Caps & Plates. Replaced with the type of caps and plates Cessna originally installed. Yes!

And two more mods. Precise Airflow Vents and Rosen Visors. Both purchased from Sporty's Pilot Shop. The drill bit and grind stones are if you need to put the thermometer through the windshield.

Looks great. No problems fitting with the V-brace in-place?

What about that thermometer in the windshield thing? Sounds scary.

That's an excellent question. And the answer is because Garmin hasn't yet learned what a USB connection is. Both my powered inRreach mount and my GDL 39 cables have old-school cigarette lighter plugs. Hopefully some day they'll figure it out, but probably not till everyone else is charging things through the air. ;-)
Another good reason is the 'standard' USB plug is slowly becoming obsolete in the electronics industry, there is a move toward the smaller 'USB C' connector.

I personally like to keep the power plug (aka cigarette lighter) because I can always find a charger that adapts to whatever the 'latest' plug that my gadgets have. Once/if the USB plug becomes obsolete you would have a useless plug in your airplane.

I have installed three sets of these vents now in customer wagons. I have yet to have one clear the V brace. I end up cutting the sleeve down leaving about 1/8" to the 1st O ring. This lets you slip it up and in, but still a snug fit. This was with both an Atlee and orig Cessna V brace.

Glad you had it easy Phil. LOL

LEMOS are in. Man I love these.

And 24v charging adapters. Can't live without these. Keeps everything fully charged all the time. Two more on the Co-pilot side. Ignore the label, I need to "adjust" those.

Apparently Maule is not the only manufacturer that identifies the "Mic" location with "Mike" :D

Lad, if you want to get a pint and talk with mic that is fine. But some just want to plug in a mike and talk to the tower. Sure enough, as I have hung from my heels to kiss the blarney stone, I can understand why it is the way, it is.

No new mods to report. In Montana with her now, she flew great. Mods to come after I’m back in Alaska:

Removing the flap gap seals
Sportsmans STOL
Installing the Reiff engine heater
Folding rear seats
Super extended baggage
Pockets pockets everywhere
