scottnt wrote:Hey Rob, what kind of IFR clearance did you request to get out of there? An IFR to VFR on top, or a full blown IFR route clearance, and if so, what was your clearance to, i.e. what initial fixes did you use? I'm curious because the thought has crossed my mind on the coast many time, but I've never actually had to do it. Cheers!

Many pilots do not know that IFR flight without a
clearance is permitted in uncontrolled airspace,
provided that the pilot is instrument-rated and the
aircraft is equipped for instrument flight.
I was in Class G airspace.

I agreed to take my daughter and her boy friend to lunch at Full Sail Brewing. Had to get them home for work. The wind was a blowing pretty darn hard, makes for a good challenge. You got any thoughts for tomorrow? I'm suppose to work because we are doing the Madras airshow later this week. But if your idea is just to good to resist, ya never know I might blow work off.

BCP turn out was a effing joke! Very disappointed, since this has been on the schedule for months. I understand we can't all make all the NW Get togethers but 4 planes from BCP, come on we can do better than that. Even the good ol boy who set this up was a no show. I can come up with excuses with the best of you. But I would rather fly, camp, eat out, have an adult beverage, sit by the camp fire than some other stuff that can wait till the short NW summer is over.
The folks who did show up are some of the best to camp and laugh with I will say that much. We had a fantastic time!!!
I do understand a lot of people just don't like the group stuff. I get it. We had a nice size group. We all fit around the fire and it had a real down home, family feel. Not the JC circus/county fair/rock concert feel. We could have had 5 more planes and kept the down home feel. I know those of us who made it won't soon forget Saturday because it was a 5 star/A++ day.
