OregonMaule Destinations:

Been planning for a few years to fab some brackets so I can use my quad as a tug. It finally got to the top of the priority list.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations:

I wanted to go to Idaho but, the wife and I had a discussion if that was a good idea, since it was our anniversary. She won. My consolation prize was a over night at our beach place.

I mow the grass for the state. It is finally dry enough to do it all, and boy did it need it, 6' foot tall in some spots.

Rob, what's the latest in the possible sale of PC airport?
One more reason against-- that'd put you out of a job!

Hey Eric, The group, friends of Pacific City state airport has formed a nonprofit corporation. They are pushing back against the state selling the airport to a private individual. Doing a walk around the airport this morning with the Oregon Department of aviation maintenance director. Trying to get some of this long deferred maintenance done. Work on the drainage system that would make a big difference in keeping the airport dryer. Then having a meeting with the friends of Pacific City state airport. Going to be discussing short and long-term goals.

Anyone who is ever been to this airport or would like to visit some day is welcome to contact the Oregon Department of aviation and tell them to keep it open and keep it owned by the state and make it better.

Good news out of the morning meeting. The state seems to be backing off their position to sell the airport to a private individual. The state has $60,000 to spend on Pacific City airport maintenance. That is good news. We were helping them with priorities.

The citizens advisory committee voted 40 to 1 in favor of keeping the airport opened and run by the state. Had one person who said airplanes don’t have mufflers and they’re noisy and why can’t we go to Tillamook and land. Everyone was nice to him, we told him most airplanes do have mufflers.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations:

Got home earlier today from Johnson Creek. I was surprised how many old friends were there. Had a great time visiting, flying, eating, camp fires. It was time.

None of this was planned. Met friends from Washington Jim, Denis and Big John. Idaho friends John, Tom and Denise. California friends Little John, Doc, and George. Met a new couple from Oregon, Dennis and Dorthy. Colorado friends Lou, Del, Doug.

Had a great breakfast at Sulfur Creek Lodge, dinner in Yellow Pine at the corner bar. Thank you Little John for buying!!

Then spent the evening camp fire hopping and visiting.

Cheers...Rob

Bought a Quicksilver MX Sprint 2. 582 Rotax, BRS, 406 ELT, electric start, bigger tires. Best of all I can fly it off my current hay field. Hey Tim, I did it mate.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations:

Congrats, that’s awesome! I miss the quicksilver ultralight days! My Dad and Uncle used to have a Quicksilver dealership they started in the 70’s. Brings back memories. I learned to fly in the simple MX, then later the Sport, 2 place sprint just like yours, and my favorite, the GT 400.

Have fun!

Is it a Sprint that's had double surface wings fitted? I thought the Sprints were all single surface wing.

Your right Zane. Actually a MXL ll or MXL Sport ll. That's what the internet says when you google the n number.

Looks like we are going to fly it home. Hopefully Tuesday. Going to base it at Eagle Nest Ranch till I get the hang of it. Then fly it off my hay field. I have some smoothing work to do.

Zane you ever meet Dave Richards from Eagle Nest? He's a big Ultra light guy.
