OregonMaule Destinations:

After leaving Pacific City Friday at 4PM, I flew my wife home to Troutdale. I grabbed a few things and flew to Lakeside State airport close to Winchester Bay to ride quads with my boy and his friends. There is a very cool rope swing and it was warm enough to use it. Had a good campfire session and road hard Saturday. Just flew home. Just made it out as the fog was rolling in.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations:

Good day. Troutdale to the coast range to scout for elk wit an old fireman buddy. Then to Pacific City to show him my home. Visited some friends in the camp ground. Then back to Troutdale, refueled and over the cascade mountains to Madras for the Airshow. I scored VIP passes for tomorrow with catered lunch so I guess I'll stay. Probably head back to Pacific City tomorrow after the Airshow.

Heading home after a quick overnight at Pacific City. There was fog all around but a nice blue opening right above the runway.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: HSF and SoCal

Wx permitting I hope to be at HSF Thursday late morning or early afternoon. Sunday after breakfast headed to Palm Desert. Probably stop by Kernville and say high to Rick. I'll be in SoCal till November 3-5. Will be going to my favorite food stops. Big Bear, Hemet, Chiriaco Summit, Calexico, and Lake Wohlford. If you want to meet up PM or post here.

Cheers Rob

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: HSF and SoCal

CCI is a tough strip. Kudos to you real STOL guys in real STOL planes for being able to get in and out of there safely. I've not seen that right base approach before. I puckered even watching it on the screen.

I could get in there but I lack the horsepower to get out, at least in the summertime. I opted for the hayfield.

I flew down to Lake Elsinore at the beginning of the month- from the air, I couldn't see many redeaming qualities in the LA basin, lol. Just traffic on top of concrete everywhere...

Moderate gales up at Newport, OR. Onshore 30kts, 10' -15' waves. Wind chill feels like it's below zero. Keeps the crowd down.

Welcome back!

OregonMaule Destinations: HSF and SoCal

Made it back to Oregon today. What a beautiful day for flying. The air was smooth as glass and I had 10 to 15 mph on the tail the whole way. Got up at 5 AM and went hot tubing then headed down to the airport for a 5 minute hop over to Thermal from Bermuda Dunes. Filled up with gasoline and headed to Yerington Nevada 2 hr 55 minutes . Gassed up again and headed for Madras Oregon to check on my place there 2 hours 50 minutes. Everything looked good and Madras and it was a quick 35 minute hop back over to Troutdale.

Thank you.

In one series of posts you reminded me how much I loved and missed California, and why I'm happy to not be there now.
