Re: OregonMaule Destinations: Lunch run

Nice day to warm up the engine. Me and a buddy arrived at Pacific City 1 hour after high tide. With the full moon the high tide was pretty high. That means water on the runway. Check out the video and you will see what I mean.

Cheers...Rob

That's a lot of water! How many times a year do you have to deal with that?

25 times but only for an hour before high tide to an hour after high tide. The state is suppose to fix the tide flapper valve in 2017 that will help a lot.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: Lunch run

Is that salt water from the ocean, fresh water from runoff or a creek, or brackish water from a combination thereof?
I've seen too many corroded seaplanes to be comfortable about salt water splashing on my airplane.

It's usually salt water on the runway at higher tides. Just use a garden hose after. ACF50, Boeing T9 etc....

Brought the Maule home from getting the Garmin GTX-345 ADS-B installed. As a bonus I got a wash job from mother nature.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations:

Rob: I picked up my Maule from Pacific Coast Avionics the next day and it was gorgeous out. Timing is everything...

On the way home, the amount of traffic that showed up on my tablet that I could not see with my eyes when looking outside was disconcerting. I kind of miss my blissful ignorance...

Doing the flying M for breakfast Sunday May 21, 2017 Coffee on at 7. Buffet 8-9. This is a legitimate get it right dirt strip. 900' land west take off east. Go around at your own risk. Barbra puts on a heck of a buffet.

Cheers...Rob

That beast of a truck was at Oshkosh this year too. It was just parked beside a tent without much explanation.

Will do Cory. Had a great day. Flew 180 to Parker for breakfast then up the Colorado to Lake Havasu. Image
Headed out.

After lunch we took the Rans out and stoped at Indian Hills to visit some other pilots.

Then back to Gary’s neighbors for a Christmas party.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations:

Very cool! My in-laws have some property near Indian Hills and her grandpa owns a house a few blocks away. We’ve landed there a few times shuttling people from Utah...like that one time we met up.
