Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

I'll be going for the 8th year in a row with the Cessna's to Oshkosh group.
This is the 10th anniversary of C2O. We do a formation flight from Dodge County Airport to Oshkosh ( about 40 miles), on the Saturday before the show start on Monday, and then all camp together for the week.
We have 90 aircraft registered this year!

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

My avatar shows what my camp usually looks like, although it may have the Colorado flag instead of Old Glory. If I'm there, anyone is welcome to stop and chat awhile. If first thing in the morning, the coffee will be hot. The last 2 years, I was in the same row, just to the north of the North 40 cafe, about 3 or 4 airplanes north. But that's sure not a given--could be anywhere!

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

I'll be leaving Alaska heading that direction the end of next week. My flight planning is done, just have to finish up some TLC on the old bird. It's been 22 years since I have been to Oshkosh.

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

Looking forward to seeing you there Shawn!

We should have a little impromptu too gathering given so many BCPers will be there. We are camping in the Vintage area as we are part of the STOL demo. Really looking forward to it. Make certain to come by and say hello.

Anyone headed to New Holstein as well? Thats Wednesday afternoon. Sure hope weather works in our favor!

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

I'll be driving in Sunday, camping at Relleumdats campground directly west of the Ultralight Barn. Pulling out Wednesday morning for New Holstein, then departing late toward NW Wisconsin for some work on Thursday.

Lots of changes in 22 years. Be sure to download and print the NOTAM--lots of good info in it, and it's mandatory. It can be downloaded to an iPad, also, but having both in print and downloaded is a good idea. https://www.eaa.org/~/media/files/airve ... 3-2015.pdf

For frequent fliers to OSH, there are some changes in the NOTAM from last year's. The single most notable thing I saw is that the restricted areas and MOAs west of OSH will all be hot (there's a big military training exercise), and there'll be a big TFR around Minneapolis. There are also some frequency changes. So don't try to fly in with any previous year's NOTAM. Otherwise, it's not much different from normal.

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

Lots of smoke in the Dakotas today from fires in Saskatchewan. Hope the wind switches before the big show starts.

Cary gives good advice....download and print the Notam and take it with you. I'm amazed at the number of numbnuts who show up there and start asking ATC what they should do......true professionalism.

And, its really not that complicated.

I'll be over with my family, as will a few other New Zealand 180/185 owners that I know of. Looking forward to it - pity it's a bit too far for a fly in!

In 2011, I was parked at what is euphemistically called North Fond du Lac, i.e., way, way south. On the second day I was there, a Mooney pulled in with a peculiar tail number that I didn't recognize. He was from the Netherlands--and he'd flown the whole way, with 2 stops between his home drome and OSH! Of course, his whole back seat area was a gas tank. So wassamattu, that you don't fly from NZ? :)

EVERYTHING happens Thursday night at OSH. Another night would be better.

Most notably, the Seaplane Pilots corn roast is Thursday night. Last year was my first time attending it, and it was a blast, in spite of the weather which was awful and my personal dislike of corn on the cob (yeah, heresy, I know).

So I'm all in favor of meeting up, but Thursday night is out for me.

I had no idea people like you existed and now I've learned of two in as many days. lol!

My midwestern sweet corn yesterday was delicious and I was glad to eat the extra piece my friend didn't want. :-)
