Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

A bunch of us are camping at Y51 Friday and Saturday and there's a STOL fly-in Sunday morning.

It's just West of Oshkosh.

Hey Rob (and others) we are in a Motel about 3 mile from Osh, what's the best way to get to and from? just that little bit too far to walk with kids each day but tantalisingly close. Are you likely to spend longer sitting in a cab than walking or does the transport flow pretty well? Newb to this and the USA. Cheers.

Hey NZ, I'm not the taxi expert. The only 2 times I have been prior I flew my Maule and camped under the wing. We did take a taxi to dinner one night and it was fine. If I were you I would try UBER!! Which hotel you in. Me and Zenuthguy are at the

BEST WESTERN PREMIER Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center
1 N Main St
Oshkosh, WI 54901

I hope we have a BCP meet and greet!!! Has anyone tried to set a time and place???

Cheers...Rob *5zero3seven2zero1nine1seven*

Viroqua is a beautiful place. Grass strip, gas, shade trees, and picnic table. I stopped there one year.

Cheers...Rob

Sounds like you've got transport set up. Lots of traffic, but it moves. Outflow right after the show is worst, but not that bad.

BUT, there will be a LOT of walking once you get to the show, so be prepared. You'll walk your shoes to smooth. There are trams, but long lines for them at peak. Plan on lots of water, sun screen, hats, and patience. Kids do it, but depending on their ages, you'll need to cruise, not blast.....

But, it's the greatest show on earth, so take your time and enjoy. Bear in mind that it's impossible to see it all in a week. And that's okay.

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

Thanks Mike, understood. Kids are 8 & 12, and I figured they will spend most of the day on their feet, they will probably have a day or two off or just come in for the air shows most days. I'll be there as much as I can get away with [emoji6]. It helps the whole family is looking forward to it.

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

Unlike Caveman ranch, There isn't a meeting spot that draws us for evening BS.
Even people we know seem scattered all the time.
Anyone camping at the Seabase ?

Re: Who is going to Oshkosh?

The good meeting spot will be with Kevin Quinn, Pops, Steve Henry and others that are doing the STOL demo. They'll be near Vintage someplace. Look for their airplanes. Much BS will happen in the evenings at their campsite.

Hang a sign by your camp =BCP

Hang a sign by your camp =BCP
We started tent camping with Harry Thompsen and Bob Odegard Who owned Duggy the DC3,
Bob And Jerry Beck started Fargo air museum and restored ww2 planes. Both died in a F4 and P51
Its strange and sad to me changes and accidents seem happening faster than time in aviation.
It seems like 3 years ago, not 25 we were in a cold duster hanger in Kindred SD going over dwgs
to machine P51 gear housings. We hung out with liberty Jump team and new friends every year.
When we visited Dick and Jeenie selling prints to help fund the world flight,
One time Burt was at a card table behind a form and talked with us 2 for an hour .
There are so many great people there, you never know who your standing next to.
I never thought back then We'd be hiking and flying BC in Utah and Alaska.
People from other countries tell us all the time, they have nothing like OSH and USA flying.
Tail Winds and safe travels .
