I guess I never posted in this thread, either... We have two airplanes in the family hangar in Sandpoint, ID.

This was taken at the BCP fly in at Garden Valley this year. My wife and I had an awesome time!


I hope to be adding a Stearman after my daughter gets out of college in a few years!

I should have posted this months ago. Purchased the plane in Febuary this year. I contacted numerous BCP members for advice and all were extremely helpful. Like many people I went through a lot of mental gymnastics trying to figure out which plane to buy. I initially had a line on a tripacer out of Santa Monica but the owner ended up in the hospital (not plane related) for an extended period. With the help of Bill Reid (182 stol driver), we found a 1976 172 in So Cal. Had a few mechanical problems the day I went to pick it up but the previous owner took care of everything and even delivered it to Minden. I decided on this plane for a number of reasons. First, I learned to fly in a 172 so it was easy to just jump in and start flying. Also, this plane has a 200 hp 0-360 A1B out of a 206 (I beleive) with constant speed prop so it performs a little better than most 172's at our high DA's. I have already started the mods - had an Airglass front fork and larger tires added. Next step is to move up to bigger tires (once these wear out and I save more $$$) and add the Sportsmen Stol kit.

Nice 172 Steve! Don't forget to get B.A.S shoulder harnesses, the 3 point original Cessna types are not nearly as good as the inertial reel B.A.S harnesses.

Also the air vents Sporty's sells are FANTASTIC! A bit spends but well worth the money.

Get your picture posted on Photobucket or some other public picture place. If there was a picture of it on the internet when it was for sale that will work. Right click on the picture and a box will pop up, look for view image info. Look for the url such as http something. Select that and then in the post on here click the Img and a set of brackets will appear in the post. Then paste the image info into the brackets and submit.

These are a few of the ones that made the most impression on me.


Just a 135HP Tri Pacer, but I owned it for almost 7 years and took it all over the central US. Wasn't home when it sold, and I was glad, I didn't want to see it go.


600 AgCat that I learned to spray in. Nothing like that blue flame coming out of the stack at 4:30 am


Graduated to the Air Tractor that first season, what a ride... for me at least.


The company 180 that we could use for the price of fuel that the ag company owned. What a perk!

my mistake - engine is out of a beech sierra.

Ah that makes more sense, you will love the 0-360 in the 172 its what they should have come with from the factory.

I purchased this 1946 J3 a few weeks ago. It has a C-85, clevelands, two wing tanks, VGs, and an air driven alternator. I ordered airstreaks for it a couple of weeks ago, but they're still a little behind on production. I'm hoping I'll get them this week.

After much searching, dreaming, and waiting for the stars to align, we have finally acquired a new(ish) ride! It won't be home to Idaho for a few months, but it'll be a regular at U72 next summer...see y'all in the backcountry!

I'm pretty stoked to have finally installed 31" Bushwheels on my Cessna 180. They will come back off in a month or two for some long cross countries, but I've been looking at them in my hangar for months and itching to try them out on some rough stuff in this plane. Nothing changes the look of a BC plane quite as dramatically as some big fat rubbers.
