Re: Project: Cessna 170B

(believe me, I hope Im wrong) But here is my guess....

1398 on 26 ABW "calculated..." I would have to say was in reality with the sportsman, ABWs, and rear bench around 1480 ish.. You stripped the exterior, but painted the interior and some exterior (Imron is a heavy paint) so that's about a wash... You prob saved 50 lbs on removing interior, hat shelf, headliner and carpet, and another 10 on the FW batt, but added 20 in insulation/glue and AeroDot and about 8 with the Selkirk front kick panels and pockets. Selkirk ext baggage adds 11 back in. factory bench seat looses 35, but FA Jumps w/ Rons upholstery adds back 20. Removing the 26's looses about 75lbs, and the 800s add around 20 back on....

Sooooo.... my guess is a pessimistic 1390 with the 5 gal unusable and 8 qts of oil on the little tires. ( Sure hope you come in lighter)

Regardless, she looks awesome!

Re: Project: Cessna 170B

With a tug like that on my 170 I am sure I would make the triple 7 UPS guys at my strip jealous. Who cares about the weight. Looks are everything.

Re: Project: Cessna 170B

My FWF battery shed me 35lbs on my 180. I'll wager on 1323lbs. Hope for you that its lighter!

Just let me clarify a few things, the last time this plane was on scales was right before I bought it when Zane owned it, probably in 2007 or so(I'd have to check the logs). It isn't a 60 year old calculated W&B. When Zane had the airplane weighed it was 1349 with the rear seat and 1319 without. I added sportsman stol, bushwheels, double pucks, and a couple other small items and had a calculated W&B at 1398 which I think was fairly accurate. Also, 26" bushwheels are 26lbs each. 8.00x6 good years are 10.9lbs and the tubes are 2.3lbs. Difference of 25.6lbs swapping the tires out. Then the difference from the BBW to the Scott 3200 is another 3.5. So just switching the bushwheels and BBW out should have put me at 1368.9 before any work was done. So if it's not quite a bit lighter than that I'll be disappointed. Also, I decided not to use the Selkirk kick panels and pockets.

My calculated optimistic guess weight is 1285 [-o<
