I'm very proud of my son Rob he worked very hard on putting that 170 together. I can't believe how big of a project it was, he just stuck with it, no matter how hard it was.
Well as you already know we got the 170 weighed today then I took it for a flight! We weighed the airplane with 7 quarts of oil and unusable fuel and it came in at 1315. With the rear jump seats and seatbelts out its down to 1293. Its slightly more than I was hoping for but I'm still happy with the weight loss. I do still have the Odyssey battery to install though which should drop another 8 pounds or so.
Phenomenal project Rob, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Looks like I'm the contest winner, might be a while on collection as I'm between travelling planes. Perhaps if you make it out to Oshkosh or New Holstein... Guess I better get back out to work on the Bearhawk!
