Newer American Champion High Country Explorers (7GCBC) have the 180hp O360. I think this is what Ernie has - I think its an '05.

Me too, except there's 3-4 of us all looking for the same thing. I'm deferring for a few more months - then its game on for me.

It might fit the bill for me, I am flying out of Moab -- granted doesnt have everything -- but 20k safe/clean plane leaves a lot of ability to fly and upgrade the motor/stol later. thanks for posting. I am in the same boat as Gary it seems... same planes/wants but cant afford it right now.

I do appreciate this thread.

High compression pistons probably give this one at least 160hp if not more.

Re: Sold the 182/Lookin for a new(to me) plane

Shortfielder, there is an experimental Pacer for sale up there in the middle of Nevada with a car engine on it. It was at Austin a couple of years ago. Not pretty at all, but able to be made pretty with not too much work. If you can buy it cheap enough to remove the car engine and put a mid-time O-320 on it, it might make sense financially. Where I'm headed with this is that it is experimental, so you can back-country-ize it any way you want, extended tips, whatever.

If you find a decent deal on a PA-22-20, just take the rear seat out and put on some better wingtips and VG's, and you will have a decent airplane at your density altitudes. But it will not be experimental unfortunately.

Since you are willing to have a two place airplane, taking the rear seat out of the Pacer should not be a problem, and you get a bigger baggage compartment than a 2 place like a Kitfox.

There is a 160 HP PA-22 in Fraser, CO, $22,500 asking. You could convert it in time if you really wanted to. It's on Barnstormers.

Re: Sold the 182/Lookin for a new(to me) plane

I really appreciate folks telling me about planes for sale, but you'd be doing me a favor if you PM'd me the info so I could check it out before the rush. I am hoping to find a deal and knowing about it before everyone else is a big advantage. I am happy to forward info to others that I know are interested if it is not the plane for me.
Thanks gary

Sorry Shortfielder about the pm block.....I was being stalked for some time here on this site where the person would always send me a p.m. and never make his comment public. I just got fed up with it and blocked my p.m.'s

I just openned it back up so you should be able to send me one......hopefully the other dude moved on. Sorry I should have sent you a p.m. as well. I will next time If I find something.

Let me know if you find something and what you end up with :D

Under Private Messages, there is a section called "Rules, Folders, and Settings." You can create a rule that deletes a message from a specified user immediately.

I get what you're saying though, either some people don't understand that they're replying privately, or they won't reply publicly due to some discretion issue. It's nice to have most knowledge shared publicly so we can all benefit.
