Wow, highroad - that video is awesome!

Tentative. Did someone call for crapper delivery? Or is there one already there from the gptc shindig?

I believe the porta john is still on the southwest side of the field.

I plan to leave Friday - maybe earlier than later. Is there a plan to park where we were last year? Or, in another spot?

Re: UPdate: PNW Season Opener -- Powers Fly In 7 June 2014

So what's the world on the porta potty situation?! The fiance' asked.....haha so i guess I should think about that!

Also I know in a video of Sean's birthday everyone was camping on the southeast area. Are we going to plan on that area or the area near the hangar? Either way i'm gearing up. Had to clean up the stuff from the high sierra Fly in. :D

Re: UPdate: PNW Season Opener -- Powers Fly In 7 June 2014

Is there water on the field or do we need to bring our own?

Is there a gaggle going to Lucas for Breakfast Sat or Sun?

Stars are aligning for a trip down from Rain City.

Re: UPdate: PNW Season Opener -- Powers Fly In 7 June 2014

Hoping to be down there Friday afternoon. We are going both mornings for breakfast to Lucas Lodge. Linda at Lucas knows there is a camping fly-in at Powers and expects some of us for breakfast. Sounds like some of the Cottage Grove boys are coming too. Maybe 2 local 180-185 guys from Lebanon also, shaping up to be a good group! =D>

I don't remember seeing any faucet for water.

Re: UPdate: PNW Season Opener -- Powers Fly In 7 June 2014

There are two parking areas on the field that usually get mowed. By whom, I don't know. One is at the south end, the other at the north by the one hangar on the field. There's parking across the far side of the runway too, but the grass may be a little high. I haven't been there yet this year so maybe others can speak to that.

With a lot of people it may be good to call to request another portapotty if there's only one there. Poison oak starts ramping up this time of year so going into the trees to do your business could be bad.

The trail to the river is pretty overgrown on the south end but there used to be one. The trail mid field is a double track road. At the north end it's also a double track road down and in good shape.

Don't try to land the south end too short...that cliff would ruin your day and there's often a sinker there. The strip is a half mile long. Bikes are good if you have one for a ride into the general store or cafe, but it's an easy walk too.

There's only the river water near the field. I used my water filter and filled a few bottles last year. Bring water if you don't want to do that.

I might bring my RC plane. It's been a while since I flew it last so it could be exciting!

Re: UPdate: PNW Season Opener -- Powers Fly In 7 June 2014

I called them. They are currently keeping the airport mowed and they now know that 15+ airplanes/lots of people are coming. They said they'd try and drop off 2 toilets! Awesome!
