Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

The next day late tookoff and made Kingman AZ right at dark 'oclock, next AM up to Cedar City Utah in strong headwinds damn it, then through the VFR corridor over SLC (my first for that, I always go around, it was a pretty fun flight, over a major city, still enough open areas for me to feel comfortable in my S-7S as far as landing areas. It was quite a contrast to a few hours earlier over desert between the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead! On into my strip at Inkom, 20.5 hrs total flight time in 3 days, best of all I beat the snow!

Nice. Did my first flying in that country!

Went out and shot some T&G's. Wanted to work on my spot landings...need a lot more practice  Three times in a row I was able to do a stop-and-go in 1200ft...felt pretty good about that.

The sky was awesome last night when I got down... too bad I didn't have any camera other than my cell phone! It just doesn't do it justice.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Today Bumper and I did a flight of two Huskys out of Minden and over Mount Siegel in the Pinenut range. Then to Walker Lake where we chased a couple of really healthy-looking coyotes, fat with thick coats. They were not too afraid of the planes. From there we flew to Mina, but didn't really know how to taxi to the cafe so we parked our planes and walked the whole 10 minutes to the Desert Lobster where the four of us had some really decent cheeseburgers. The owner, Bob, mentioned that Gumpair was there yesterday! Sorry to miss you, Gump! Bob gave us a ride back to the planes on the back of his flatbed truck and showed us the 1/2 mile long "taxiway" he bladed from the airport to his restaurant...next time we'll do it right. What a sight flying over Hawthorne's Ammunition Depot; miles of railways and bunkers over a vast area. We flew through Lucky Boy Pass, and landed at Nineteen Mile Ranch strip and then along the Walker River to Sweetwater and then to Minden. Nice day, not a bump to be found the whole way, even at low altitude! :D

Re: Where did you fly today?

Well, Hell.. We all passed in the night yesterday.

Flew from HTH to Yerington at 0530 and back home at 2100 last night. Some of the prettiest night flying I've had in a long time.

There's a crew of about 5 coyotes living on the east side of Walker Lake, f**king with my ducks, and I bowl them over on quite a regular basis. They are all fat and healthy and love biting at my airplane tires.

Took a strike team of Skycranes from VNY down the coast route (150 feet or lower under the LAX departures) and over Torrance to the docks for the big boat ride to OZ for the winter. Great trip!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Took my sister in law today up in the T-41C for her first flight in a small plane.

After going through a couple of airplanes in order to fly we finally got airborne. Yet more fuel for my fire to own rather than rent.

I did what is becoming my normal tourist mountain flight. Over Garden of the Gods, up Ute Pass, then over towards eleven mile resevoir where I may have sort of buzzed some fishermen, then around Buffalo Peaks up to Leadville. She got her certificate for landing there and then we flew back a slightly different route.

I let her fly for about 30 minutes. She did pretty good too, even though she doesn't think she did. I got to mess with my Ipod while she flew, so I was happy! Yay for autopilot!

Overall a 2.3 looking at the snow and scenery. So beautiful up there.

Great day to mountain fly in Colorado. Flew down to Alamosa to pick up a friend, then to Pueblo for lunch, then a drop off at Meadowlake then back to Colorado Springs. Followed that up flying with a student in our 182RG. Long day of flying. All good :-)

Re: Where did you fly today?

I headed into Bijou Basin and flew over Bijou Bottom private strip. Hangar was closed so I set up to drag the runway. As I got closer Steve (Owner) was standing by the hanger waving. I cleaned it up and went around for a full stop. Talked to him for about 15 minutes and had to get since the sun was behind the peak. Told him we planned on coming up next weekend for the scheduled 2nd Saturday of the month fly-in. All in all great flight.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I was down at Herrick’s strip 3 weeks ago, that hanger extension area is coming along nicely. Bill, I'll try to make it this Sat to say HI, what time are you thinking (PM me).

On Thursday I finished up an oil change and flew down to Calhan (5V4) to get some x-wind practice in and then made a quick trip back. Nothing special but it was nice to be back up.

Clean, shiny airplanes???? What the hell's up with that? I keep a coat of dust and mud over mine so the N number isn't visible.

Rob you ought to make a separate trip report for this stuff. Your photos from the last week have been really good.
