Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Huh. Well, the rest of my post disappeared. Pretty boring story as is, but then again wasn't that great of a flight anyway ;)

That is the departure end of runway 16 at my home airstrip, PAIN. I think they based the ICAO name on its reputation during breezy conditions.

That is the Alaska RR bridge. It is very high above Riley Creek, but maybe a 2 or 3% slope to clear it from the runway. It's main danger as an obstruction is in case of an engine out or some other problem, but then again the terrain around it ain't great either.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Wheels up at 12:20, land Pacific City 1:08. Lunch with groundlooper and my wife. Walked the beach for a while.

Short hope back over the coast range to McMinnville. Got to see small tail caddy new 180 Cessna and met Terrys wife. Had a good visit.

The local FBO (Robbie)and airport manager/AP/ IA extraordinary (Graham) put on one heck of a free Bar B Q. Steaks, fish, corn, tater salad, pop, beer, wine, desert, chips, dips. Holy Cow!!

Then back home as the sun was setting, beautiful. Then did a 350' landing no wind.

Good day

Re: Where did you fly today?

Today I got hammered for six hours with 25 gusting past 35 winds at 500 AGL. I had a real crazy cross wind landing at the patch of grass I use at Carroll County for you who were at the fly-in.

Yesterday I had a 75 MPH tail wind, so I tried to break my personal speed record for the scout. (That was and still is 204 mph forward and minus 17 going backwards). It wasn’t to be.

The other picture was a pee break in a farm field somewhere.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Went flying this evening just because it was so nice. Did my three night landings just to get current with no landing light or runway lights just to make it interesting.

Flew the clipped wing cub a few times after work this week. I think I'm addicted to the thing.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Flew to BJC (JEFFCO, Rocky Mtn Metro) to brunch with Gerald, Rob & Stacey (Z's plane new owners), Tadpole, Mountian Matt, FLYNKD, and Bushwagon. Beautiful day to fly and got to watch a Mig 17 takeoff and do a low pass with smoke. Then on to Longmont for cheap fuel and Bushwagon and I flew on to FtLove (FNL) where we met Cubscout & Girlscout. The group lined up at BJC from the balconey of the Runway Grill.

Here's a few more photos from today....I was in the best position to get pics of bushwagon only. Was great to meet Rob and Stacy and see the 170 finally! Always good to get together with everyone. Thanks for letting me be an autopilot today Matt!

Guess I need to add my pics of today's festivities.

All and all a great day of flying. Departed Meadowlake, hit Matt's strip near Simla, brunch at Jeffco, cheap fuel at Longmont, met up with Girlscout and Cubscout at Loveland, a little play time West of Boulder, then back to Meadowlake. Life is good.
