That guy is an idiot!

Yup, that's Daybreak, very nice place! I met up with Z at Grove. Then he led me to Cedars North and Daybreak. Then we went over to Twin Oaks, I fueled up and came hom. 4.9 on the Hobbs for me yesterday. I forgot the battery for my camera, so mine are iPhone photos. I'll post them later.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Flew up from Lake Hood along the Susitna then Yentna on one of those "hey that looks cool, lets go there" flights. Landed at Skwentna to admire the view... Anyone here know what the fishing is like up there? Not one single person that I know has ever been up there ever.

Flight was a blast, but no pictures cause the phone was almost dead and the SPOT was totally dead.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Skwentna has good fishing when the salmon are running that way - beyond that, can't say. On the other hand, the Skwentna roadhouse is open again, so there's an assurance of pie...

I've been tracking down a squealing sound - turns out that someone removed the anti-chafing tape from my cowling when it was sitting on the hangar floor, and that's why I had a tortured metal-on-metal shriek. Not to point any fingers, but a certain 17-week-old puppy is getting much closer watching now. Yesterday, I flew up around Bold airstrip, came back for more adjustments, then flew down along Turnagain Arm to Girdwood and back. The noise is now down to nearby-mosquito whine levels, which is entirely ignorable.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Nate and I went out to the hangar yesterday for dinner and a little flying. It rained most of the evening, but we found a nice window to go have some fun.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Long day...Whitehorse to the Haines hwy and landed at Mule Creek off the highway 30 miles up from Haines, AK to watch cyclist go by for the Kluane Chilkat Int'l bike relay...then back to Whitehorse to refuel and off to Ross River to visit friends and some stone sheep spotting. I'll poste pictures next week, in the meantime the link should show you the country flown, especially if you use the terrain and hybrid feature of the spot map. cheers, BCT

Re: Where did you fly today?

This weekend I went with CubCrafters to the 2011 Super Cub fly-in at Johnson Creek. We had 5 pilots and 4 planes. Since I'd never been there, I opted to ride right seat in Stan's 4 place SuperCub / Pacer / Bushmaster thing, and then fly the Sport Cub home solo. We flew out Friday morning to McCall for fuel and food, then into JC.

Saturday morning I flew with OregonMaule up to Mackey Bar for breakfast and then he started to show me around all the strips along with Bobby (can't remember his last name, but the 81yr old guy) following in his home built Cub. We went over Wilson Bar, then into Chamberlain. We started to head to Big Creek and weather moved in so we went back to JC. Oh well. Thanks for the flight Rob!

Back at JC it was time to get ready to feed the masses. I cooked up 300 brats, I still stink of onions, brats, and grill smoke! It stayed rainy until we left this morning. 5 ship flight out, had to mess around some to find a good way over to McCall. Fueled up and then messed with some more weather until we got to Joseph, OR. Then nice ride direct to Yakima.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Hit the Father's Day Flyin at Columbia (O22) for an overnight camping trip with my kids.

We had a great time, although we have been to Columbia and walked through town several times before, but they were having an old fashioned dance in the street last night that the kids really enjoyed. Couldn't believe we hung out there for a couple hours, but it was fun.

It was our first trip out as a family in the new-to-me 180, lots to learn about operating at gross with an aft CG. Winds took it easy on me yesterday getting into O22 but it was a gusting crosswind when we got back to Lodi this morning.

Got a chance to meet Yellowbird, it was really nice talking to him and his daughter. He has a sweet 57 182 that is all decked out for backcountry work.

Tadpole-

I see your ride has those machined aluminum headset holders. Can you remind me of the company that makes those?

Thanks for the great photos as well. Looks like a really good time.

Cool. if I buy some from you, do you throw in the cub too?

I know I've seen those or similar advertised before, but can't seem to google them when I try now.
