Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Beautiful scenery, Rob (except for the two apes)-- what's that mountain in the background?
That open country is a nice contrast to the timberlands west of the Cascades.

See the wierd 'ky6LC6jGbtQ' code? That's all you need to put inside the youtube brackets. Took me a few tries to figure it out myself

Re: Where did you fly today?

Cool video, Matt. I really enjoy your stuff.

Did you ever figure out a good way to mount the ND filter on your HD170? I just got the RageCams hood, and I have ordered some ND sheets on Amazon. I think I'm going to try Pokette's method of cutting a circle out in the size of the lens hood. In the meantime, however, I was wondering if anyone had a good way to temporarily secure the smaller little ND circle that RageCams provides with the hood? It is only the size of the camera lens, and I'm not too thrilled with my scotch tape job so far.

Nice videos Matt, Diana, and RanchPilot.

Atticus Ross. Song is called Panoramic. Was on the soundtrack for the film Book of Eli.

Post-apocalyptic stuff. Seemed fitting, as those piles of sand will be there long after we're gone!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Thanks. The song was running through my head the whole time I was flying down between the dunes. Couldn't wait to get home and lay it over the video to see how they went together.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I had to go check out another solar job about 60 miles away, and did a little playing on the Palisades Res and the Snake River on the way: The Res., coming out of the canyon to the east, loosing elevation quick once clear of the mountains.Image
A great place for practicing water ski landings onto dry ground, the old highway before the lake was created, it's in amazing shape, even still has the centerline in places.Image
Downsream of the dam, a little gravel bar action with a waterfall in the background 8) Image

Getting closer to my customers place, he advised me via the cell phone that he had a neighbor with a 2K' long grass strip about 1/4 mile away, bummer, as I was looking forward to scouting a new landing area closer to his house. I told him I'd land at the neighbors if I had to and he was cool with that (a retired military guy with some background in risky business so he had no problems with my little airplane :D ) I was able to sure enough land right in front of the house, that made my day as his pasture is very similar to my home strip.Image
