The S55 always looked to me like a nosewheeled S58 (aka H34). Do they fly very much alike? Don't know much about them other than the 55 is powered by a Pratt 1340 & the H34 by a Wright 1820. But I always thought the H34 was pretty darn cool.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Never flown an H34. The S-55 we were in was turbine powered, though fixed shaft and had an interesting rotor clutch engagement dance. The S-55 (H-19) has four landing gear, kind of like a shopping cart, haha. It flew like a large Bell Jetranger.

Today we hopped a ride on a KC-130 to see the Air Force museum at Wright-Patt. It was an awesome day :-).

Re: Where did you fly today?

Took the plane down for cylinder work today in Montrose, CO. Allen and Stan bailed me out by flying over with me to give me a ride back to Utah. We rendezvoused at Mexican Mountain after I made a quick stop at Cedar Mountain. FYI, Cedar has some big ruts, but otherwise is smooth and they are avoidable. While at MM, a 180 and Husky came in. Come to find out is was a fellow BCPer, Cannon, out of Santa Paula. It was great to chat with them for a bit before heading on to Montrose.

With the plane dropped off, back to Spanish Fork and I hopped the Frontrunner train home. Great day of flying and really thankful for good friends!

Re: Where did you fly today?

One new 7600' high meadow site and an old friend of a 8800' ridge top site. I'll shut up and let the pictures show how much fun it was.

The Prince Prop, looking all bad ass.....

Lots of low wet spots, I of course kept to the higher sides. This was surprisingly rough, all chopped up by gopher tunnels, a lot rougher then it looks in the picture! 3.5 PSI in the tires, to put that in perspective. Yet another case of the Airstreaks/ABW's making what could be almost a problem no big deal.

Got a 1.6 of tailwheel refresher with the CFI I got my endorsement with in her Citabria. The list of things I have left to do before July is getting shorter!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Well it was on Saturday,
I now live in a different state (Montana). Made a stop at the local airport to see if any thing is going on
there. A RV-8 landed then swept-tail 182 for breakfast in town,
just before i left a Cessna landed and shutdown,
I went over to look at it and chat with the pilot. With very minimal talking I was offered to go
for a flight. well can't say no to that, so i got to go for a 10-15 min flight around the valley.
A good way too start a day.

Here's the valley; https://goo.gl/maps/mJs9L

Oh, The Cessna i flew in is a former army T-41B.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I started my weekend with a little repair work on a friend's stinson in Fort langley. . Got back to chilliwack and had to go for a flight in my stinson. Went up to culture lake and tried to get the girls to flash me but I couldn't see them so I went over to the river and bombed around there for a bit. Got back and did some work on an utva. Sunday I wake up and decide I want a coffee. . So I fly over to rowena's.. no pilots there so I head to my buddy gerard field. He's now home. . So over to Peters. There is a pot of coffee brewing. Good way to get free coffee. .

Re: Where did you fly today?

Looks like you had a good time, Gary. How were the temps on the beach? Warm as it was inland, I'm surprised you two didn't have any company out there. If you ever go out there when razor clamming is open, it'll be a whole nother show. I've counted like 25 planes parked there -- plus a shitload of non-airplane clamdiggers who seem to like walking out in front of airplanes on short final.

I ended up BS'ing at the airport sunday morning for way too long, as usual, then since I figured you guys might be come and gone already at Copalis I decided to fly up and visit a buddy at his place on Stuart Island instead.

Very nice BRD! I love the shots from the rear seat perspective. They really illustrate what it's like to be out there flying!
