Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

I absolutely had to check out two building sites I'll be lifting trusses at in a few days, this is a free service I offer my customers at no extra charge. Both were in nearby rural areas, both were told "if I'm in the area beforehand I'll stop by."

First place: this was a no brainer!
Image

The rancher was doing something involving grain dust and dangerous looking equipment with augers, thus the mask. He didn't hear me taxi up 50' away, much less the fly over.

Second place:another tough one #-o

Besides actually helping smooth the way for when I arrive with the crane, they'll get a picture of their place. Doing this in a way that is no big deal, not scaring anyone or stopping the cows from milking or the hens from laying, is the challenge. Around here anyway it is no big deal, just another piece of equipment, being quiet really helps I think as it just seems more benign to the uninitiated.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Stayed local today. Wind was supposed to really come up and it did. At 1030 it was gusting 35. No place to be flying in the mountains with higher gusts over the ridges. Made a few landings in a couple of my local spotsImageImageImageImage

Re: Where did you fly today?

Brought my buddy over to the AMEs place to pick up his C150.
Chased him home with my 180. Could hardly keep up! ;P

When we got home the wind was 20G30. Made for some fun short landings and takeoffs with the 180.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Took my nephew up flightseeing around Southern Oregon yesterday. I handed him my camera to take some pictures.
He captured this cool closeup of Wizard Island as we flew around Crater Lake.

I wasn't behind the controls and not exactly backcountry, but just flew back from Amman, Jordan on a Royal Jordanian Airlines Dreamliner. Somebody got to log a 14.0.
