Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Not an uncommon position with yesterdays winds.

For last hour n half were cruising between 85-95mph getting a thorough ass whippin the whole time. Kate being a newbie pilot this was a good trip for her to experience and I think she learned a lot about mountains and high winds, wind shear etc. She didn't turn green and we made it, starting to dump now and skiing is great, woohoo!!!

Whoah, Kate got her certificate? That's awesome!

Re: Where did you fly today?

I will be flying down to Albany, Georgia in March with Kiman (MO9) in his C-195. Slim will be bring a new turbine Thrush back from the Thrush factory. I'm sure he will have to get checked out so I might be there a bit. Come by if you get a chance.

I think Slim has one of those modern cameras now. I hired a professional photographer to film Slim (from ground and camera in the Pawnee) doing all my SMFT stuff way back. The film, I still have the CDs, was terrible. I will get him to film if he has a good camera.

Kiman doesn't ever fly very high in anything except his balloon. I'm afraid of heights but he talked me into riding in the balloon. It was windy and there were trees about an eight of a mile downwind. Tied the balloon to the pickup and blew it up tight. When they turned us loose, we popped up to a couple thousand feet. I sat on the tanks in the bottom of the balloon until he got it down to fifty feet or so.

If anybody gets a chance to come by MO9, I will buy lunch. They have 23 airplanes out there now. Don't come on the weekend unless you don't mind dodging jumpers. Slim has two 182s now. Spray planes, jumpers, balloons, etc. What a mess. Also a big rebuild and fabric installation operation. Oh! That's crop duster quality fabric.

Air-scouted a local kayak run for timber after last weeks' 20,000 cfs blow out.

Thanks guys,
If you can figure out how to put it on your computer knock yourself out. Pretty good test flight after almost three months of down time due to maintenance...

Ha. I used Cam's image for a background and confused the crap out of my wife.

Awesome photo. Very well done. Captures a scene about as good as I've seen. Must have been a fun flight.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I will, but I haven't had time to put my thoughts from my trip in order yet. I just wanted to post a couple pictures of where I flew. Is that so wrong? :D

Seriously, I'll write up a trip report and start a new thread this weekend if I can find time - this was one of the most enjoyable flying trips I've had in a long time.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Just some more air-scouting... since my last repair jobs I got in a whopping 2 hours of flight before yet another mechanical issue grounded the plane (broken door latch)!
