Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Made a few trips around the pattern today. 22 gusting 30 down the runway. I was following a helicopter in the pattern doing simulated engine failures, our approach slope looked similar.
The Stinson tail is heavy and I have gotten in the bad habit of not holding the stick back during run-up. So today, starting the run-up and busy watching the tack the tail is flying at about 1200 rpm...shit . Reality check

Re: Where did you fly today?

I bet the takeoff's looked real similar too :D Its kinda fun flying when the wind is like that, as long as its straight down the runway.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Just returned from an overnight on the north side of the Alaska Range. Temps last night went to -17F, but warmed to around zero today. 2 hours with the Northern Companion and the O-300A caught almost immediately and ran smoothly. Quite a bit of snow in places- up to my thighs- but the airplane skis only went in about 6". Going to be one of those years when the bottom totally goes out of the snowpack once it gets warm, though. quite a bit of unconsolidated snow and depth hoar under the surface.

Cheers,

My spot should be working I tested it last night and the link from BCP works. I have family watching too. There in Oregon, at least the one who can be of real help.Cheers Rob

Re: Where did you fly today?

Flew to Newport, OR. last Thursday on an oyster run.
The owner of Oregon Oyster Farms will deliver to the airport upon request.
Nothing better than a steamed oyster feed when they are flown in fresh from the beach. :D

Re: Where did you fly today?

Left SNY at 7:00 and flew up north over the family ranch south of Hot Springs SD, and back to CDR for breakfast. Left CDR as the winds were picking up, flew back to SNY. Landed on 31, winds were 340 at 18 gusting to 32...just squeeked it on.

They did not know what to think or say so we all just smiled and wished each other a nice day
