Re: Where did you NOT fly today??

Random fact: American Airlines has a beautifully composed solo piano version of Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" that they play while boarding the plane.

Wind has us NOT flying again in central Iowa  It is always interesting to watch the wind threshold change as the season winds up and the acres start stacking up...

How bad for business if that, Rob? Are you out those jobs or will they still want to spray when you can fly again?

Where did you NOT fly today??

Huh. That seems expensive. We have ## of them here that all run off of sweat, Rip Its, and JP-8.

At this point in the game the jobs stay on the books and it just makes us behind. Later in the season we may miss the optimal application period for some chemicals, and approach the pre harvest interval on others (the minimum time that must lapse between an application and the harvest) in those cases the jobs would have to be pulled which is lost revenue , but generally this is foreseeable and help can be called in to make sure everyone gets covered.

And yes the fact that I am writing this at 3:PM means we are blown out early again

Re: Where did you NOT fly today??

Rained like hell last night

Corn is all wet this morning.... Farmers say the chemical is gonna slide right off the leaves, so no flying till it dries up some. I just don't appreciate this chemistry stuff.. for Pete's sake we're using water as a carrier, you'd think with the leaves already wet we could just add less water to the load =D>  #-o

Didn't fly to Yellerknife, they're having the worst fire season up there in 30 yrs! Contact guy said some days you need to have special VFR to land in town (on floats). Couple of us were going fishing for a week or so, maybe later. :(

Ditto here. I hate missing it, but it wasn't in the cards this year. I got a call from the folks hosting it yesterday- they said that the end of the spit was underwater, and they are using an alternate site closer in to the runway. Also, I understand the closed runway has had some good brushing recently, so it's better for taxiing down to the end than in past years. Can't personally vouch for that, so check it out first!
Potluck was supposed to start at 1:00, and skipping to start at 3:00.

Gonna have to hide it from the kids that we missed it. They had a great time last year. My son asked a couple weeks ago if we were going.

Re: Where did you NOT fly today??

I delivered (via my flatbed) a solar array and a water pumping system to a rancher about 10 miles from my place. While he was writing the check out I all casual like asked who farmed the property up on the hillside, "we do", he said. "How about if I leave a few ski tracks up there this winter when I get the skis on the airplane", was answered by "sure, go for it". Good deal, I have flown by it a lot but held off on just hitting it without permission, now I have it. =D> Not a real big deal, I have lot's of more challenging places to play in , but one more doesn't hurt. I am not flying to Irvine and then Phoenix this weekend. I really really really wish I was. Making the whole trip in a minivan with the family.

Yup. A minivan.

Re: Where did you NOT fly today??

Went out towards middle of nowhere Nevada today...

Ended up looking at lots of the playa, and not landing. We've had T-storms most nights for the past few weeks, and the desert is WET!

If anyone is heading out that way to play, make sure you're the second one in, not the first.
