Re: (Yet Another) Cessna 170 project

Instead of painting the belly, I decided to polish but was too tired to take a photo when it was all done.
So, everything looks like the back half... trust me :D

With the floor down and done, the last of the major riveting is out of the way.
Prepping for a final clean coat of paint on the visible parts inside.

It didn't happen exactly that way.

I'm sure its been a lot of hard work, I was more referring to future polishing requirements shes' a "shinning" example of the breed,

Very nice,

Re: (Yet Another) Cessna 170 project

Before final paint, I decided to get the floor pattern out of the way.
Not sure how others do it but I've found making strips of poster board paper (as thick as a business card) and taping them to the perimeter gets me a good template. Then fill in the void with a rough cut piece and LOTS of tape.
It took me about 2 1/2 hours to make this template.

Next is to transfer the template to the floor material and use a box cutter and straight edge to cut it out.
I bought hole punches of various sizes so I can radius inside corners nicely and make it look like a professional job.

I'm not sold on the thin strip running between the inner seat rails and the flap tunnel. I think I'll cut that of for simplicity.

Bagarre, where did you source your flooring material and how does it stack up against carpet on weight material weight ?

Cheers,

Those front seats look so good...dark charcoal is way better than your last set.

Or is it just the lighting and they’re the same ones?

New seats. 81D had the tan and blue interior. Looked nice but it belonged in a Lexus vs a 170.
This will be a touch more utility than that :)

After two years of tearing things apart, this was an emotional moment for me.

Wow, that looks awesome! Are you going to put strips between the seat rails and door, or just leave that painted?

I was gonna just paint that area. Easier to clean that way.

I'm with you on this. I had the strips but they were too fragile and I chucked them. I clean a lot of dust and grit out of there.

I haven't been able to see pics either - weirdly I saw the flooring ones last night, but not now.

Looking really good, a rebuilt 170 that you know inside out is right up there for me.
