was supposed to open on the 19th, then a new notam saying the 26th, then on the 25th another notam saying april 30.

The city manager told me it was to stop the spread of CV19. But suggested I drive to go camping instead of flying. You can take off, but you cannot return.

I wonder if my airport access fee will be prorated, actually, I don't wonder.

A city airport that's never taken FAA funding...you sure?
No offense, but that's hard to believe.
It's rare to find a public airport that doesn't want some of that "free money" the FAA likes to hand out.
(usually the grants are for dumb/unneeded stuff....the useful improvements are a little harder to get funded. But I digress....)
FWIW the grant assurance agreements usually give the FAA oversight for like 20 years.

Re: Avgas Cost

For what it's worth, I've been paying $2.60 or so for the last few months to get E0 87 octane in southern Denver. Beats the $4.80/gal next door at KAPA for sure. Easy for me to say though, the Franklin loves mogas...

Re: Avgas Cost

Based on history I'll bet gas prices will start back up, oh say January 20, 2021.

Re: Avgas Cost

Avgas prices are really low right now-- for example, $4.30 at Arlington KAWO & $3.92 at Chehalis KCLS.
87 octane e-zero mogas is still hanging at $3.25 at my local Cenex as it has been for months.

100LL at my airport recently dropped from 5.75 (high at the time) to 5.25 (still high).
A big part of that is the low volume of sales, which is a vicious circle--
they don't buy much fuel so don't get a volume discount from the supplier,
and so they don't sell much fuel due to the resultant high prices.
etc etc

Re: Avgas Cost

$5/gal for 100LL at BCV, just outside of Anchorage. Nothing is ever cheap in Alaska.

$4.80 at KTKI (McKinney, TX) where I'm currently based.

Seems like Sherman, Tx has always been cheaper than others in the area.

Re: Avgas Cost

I bought a couple hundred gallons @ $2.49/gal back in April and flew it back to the ranch for storage; That same spot has gone up to $3.05 (KRYW). Planning on a few more trips for more soon. It's cheap enough that including the cost of fuel to go get it its still a savings over the $4 to $4.50 it normally runs. Gets me to NM on cheap gas; its the return trip @ $5/gal that hurts.

Re: Avgas Cost

My last load of bulk was $1.20/ liter, so $4.54/ gallon. A lot cheaper then the $1.76/ liter in Grande Prairie... E-free premium MoGas was $1.15/liter at the time of order, so not enough difference for me to justify burning MoGas for this tank full.

Re: Avgas Cost

Even if the cost differential isn't there, I don't see a reason to run straight 100LL instead of mogas or a mogas/100LL blend.
Its kind of like running premium gasoline in a car that doesn't require it.
Of course, I have a good source of 87 octane e-zero about 3 miles from the airport.
About the only time I run straight 100LL is on a trip.

Re: Avgas Cost

$2.42 for E-0 87 octane, I noticed the other day while filling my Prius (7 gallons, 59 mpg) I use E-10 in it, ($2.12) but I always note the E-0 87 cost.

Re: Avgas Cost

For Anchorage pilots: Suburban Propane on Rampart street has been closed, but will reopen as soon as staff are trained, they are planning the first week of July. Avgas will be back on sale there, but call first to verify.

Essential 1 in Wasilla was $4.95 yesterday.
