"Close to 12.00 USD for 100LL in Holland. You read that right..."

Safe bet that $12/gal contains a LOT of government imposed fees that fund many non aviation matters. They figure you're rich enough to bear it since YOU have an AIRPLANE...

Re: Avgas Cost

Figured I would resurrect this tread. I just drove 1 3/4 hrs to fill my 105 gal transfer tank with 100LL at $2.87/gal. This is more than $2/gal cheaper than the airport 45 minutes away where I would normally go.

Hasn't changed here at KGWS, but then it doesn't matter. The city closed the airport for "public safety".

That's nuts, sorry to hear it. Flying solo or with other household members looks like social distancing to me.

Avgas is still well north of $5/gal at PABV here in AK. :(

Fuel cost pretty irrelevant when you can't take off or land. An actual grass runway would be nice too!

Is this an FAA funded airport?
If so, they can't just up & close it on a whim-- even for CV.
Prior permission from FAA is required.
Read the links listed on this page under "airport compliance":

https://www.faa.gov/airports/special_pr ... -airports/

I don't know of any public airports around western WA that are actually closed for operations due to CV concerns.
There are some, most notably in the San Juan Islands, that currently have a "strangers stay away" policy though.

Re: Avgas Cost

Have not heard of a single airport closed anywhere in the US for the Wuhan flu of China. FBOs - maybe. Runways - no.

Re: Avgas Cost

no FAA funding.
was supposed to open on the 19th, then a new notam saying the 26th, then on the 25th another notam saying april 30.

The city manager told me it was to stop the spread of CV19. But suggested I drive to go camping instead of flying. You can take off, but you cannot return.

I wonder if my airport access fee will be prorated, actually, I don't wonder.

Sounds to me like the city manager needs to be fired.

Re: Avgas Cost

Is that even legal at a public use airport? The airport is owned by the taxpayers, right? Is the runway x'ed off? Did they place physical barriers across the runway?

Re: Avgas Cost

Just bought 150 gallons of E-0 mo gas, for $2.06 per gallon. I was hauling my 300 gallon tank on the flatbed, but figured the 150 g. would hold me for a while, until it drops some more in price.

I’ve got a 100 gal tank on a trailer but I need to clean it out. Prices are getting good enough to invest the labor.
