Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

decided to head out to Utah for a couple days to visit some family. i stopped at IBEX on the way out for a pee break
Image
looks like it needed some watering!

on day one i flew up to Spanish fork to visit with some friends and decided to hit this spot.Image
i guess you utanians call it hillside.

highlight of the weekend was the ducks unlimited dinner i went to with the family. (my first one ever) i ended up winning a Kimber 1911!
Image

then on the way home i had to stop for gas of course. so i swung by Delle for some 91
Image

and Nevada is such a big state that i got hungry half way through.
Image

Re: Where did you fly today?

Looks like a fun trip Justin! I probably would have had to stop twice for food flying across Nevada in the 170.

Wow, any day you win a new gun is a good day. 8)

We're having a spell of great wx here in Oregon so a few of us got together on Sunday for some picnic action.

Watts Landing, Amity, Oregon: Great place for a summit meeting.

Image

On to Daybreak, Vancouver, Washington: The best sidecountry picnic location in the Portland area. Dean and Delverna Swanson love airplanes and pilots and they keep it like a golf course.
Image

At one point on sunday we had 8 airplanes show up with no prior coordination (except for me, ScottnT and DCO-65), just sunny day thinking.

Sunday morning I took a friend of mine, along with his son and grilfriend, for scenic flight of the local area. He is a filmmaker by trade and put together this little clip of the flight. Enjoy

One of my favorite places also. I like to call it "back forty flying" instead of back country. For whatever reason, I don't get down there as often as I'd like, but I sure do enjoy the place when I do go there.
I don't know Dean & Delverna...is that Bob Swanson's parents?

Re: Where did you fly today?

Still not backcountry, but the weather in the NW has been too good to stay on the ground. I moseyed around Puget Sound letting my engine get to a happy temperature and admired the sights.

Cargo ships anchored by Blake Island because of the slowdown by longshoremen. They are pushing for a contract that preserves jobs in the face of additional port automation. Fish pens are in the foreground.

Final into Vashon Island Municipal airport. This is where I bought my plane 2 years ago.

The Olympic Mountains and Hood canal on the way home.

When it is good here, it is VERY good!

Craig, Dropbox image URLs for embedding are kinda tricky. I think they make it that way on purpose for some reason. Also, your photo permissions may be too restrictive.

Must be. They appear to be in their 80's. Very nice people.

Wow, that was awesome. Very well done. I looked at his other work and it is great. That guy has a nice piece of glass hung on whatever he's shooting with.

Looks like he got it figured out later in the flight, but shooting through the propeller = less than 1/60 sec on the shutter speed setting to blur the prop.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Made a quick trip up to Garden Valley to see if it was landable yet.

As I rounded the corner into the valley, I though I would be turning around and heading home, seemed like low clouds would obscure the valley... but thankfully it was clear skies all around the field.

Deer and elk poop everywhere, but I didn't actually see any game.

Yep, no snow, and the runway was firm. Had the whole place to myself as I contemplated whether or not I could stomach a late-winter camping trip up here and enjoy some solitude.

This is all the snow that is left, in the shade of the shelter building.

All in all, great flight.

That's a little better parking spot than you and I had last summer!

Out exercising the Husky this morning. It was about 12 deg with a 14 mph NW wind. Not bad. 8)

Sorry: More Central Oregon scenes. I feel as though I need to take advantage of this unusually warm and sunny weather we've been having.

You should be ashamed of yourself, posting all these crystal-clear amazing landscape captures. Simple deplorable.
