Great choice of planes and they were both designed by the aviation Genius Ted Smith.

American Made used 600A’s which are the non turbo version. Under 10,000 feet they can put a hurtin on all of the stock planes.

What a awesome lake to land on.

What are the regulations regarding something like that?

It's been so long since I earned my seaplane rating I don't recall.

I bet it takes some serious HP to get off of a smallish mountain lake in the summer at high DA.

Wallowa's sound like a great place to be, smoke situation around here is starting to wear on me...

Shut down and sailed gently backwatds into the soft sand near the river mouth. Set two sand spikes and one anchor to hold her about 50' off shore. Friendly long time campers advised that the lake was dropping several inches a day, so we left extra clearance under the step.

SPA field director advised that seaplanes are OK. Elevation is about 4100'. Afternoon DA much higher, but AM departure was smooth. Any decently floated and powered seaplane can manage it.

Fueled at KJSY on our way out. Next stop was lower Stillwater Lake, MT. Slept in our host's loft apartment over the hangar and awoke to this view and the sound of a Rotax as the Searey took an early joyride.

Spent two and a half hours this morning island hopping in Hawaii with my sister. Flew from PHJR (Kalaeloa) on Oahu to the island of Molokai, then to Lanai, then returned to Oahu. Nothing quite as fun as low and slow over the cliffs and beaches of the islands.....

Flew from CO (KLMO) to CA (KTSP) yesterday. Took two fuel stops, one at Canyonlands (KCNY) and one in Boulder City (KBVU). Crossed the divide via Rollins Pass, skirted around a couple fire TFRs, then decided to go south of the Vegas class B and the R-25 complex. Winds were light the whole way, smoke wasn't too bad but created lower than normal viz, especially between Vegas and the Sierras. Door-to-door was actually faster than the drive to LAX and airline flight to Denver!

That log castle is quite the place. I was there with Brian Schanche (Adventure Seaplanes) in his 185 about 10 years ago.

Ha, I stand corrected. I wouldn’t want to be the first one to land there on tires, but it would be fun to fly there in the winter.

Had to test fly this supercub to check the rigging. Wings are freshly rebuilt with oratex covering. Flies great! Enjoyed my first supercub flight.
