Re: 06/26/2009 - Annual BCP Summer Fly-in - Johnson Creek, ID

advice needed

I have 6 days to make the trip from DEN to JC and back. I'm starting to plan this trip and I'd like to hit UT on the way out (depending on temps/wx). Any thoughts and advice on where to camp/go would be great. I'm also new to the UT/ID backcountry.

Many thanks,
Matt

Mark,

Good to hear from you and glad to hear that you will be there. We are really looking forward to this trip. I believe my wife is planning on some sort of cobbler for dessert, dutch oven style. We'll be there sometime on Friday after our NW tour, so long as we don't get fogged in somewhere on the coast. Even if we have to cut the loop short, we'll plan on getting there on Friday early afternoon or so.

Zane, are you coming this year? I'm looking forward to seeing those that have been there before and to meet those that are new.

Plan on being at JC either Thurday or Friday. Will be there Sat night for the potluck. Looks like my flying buddy Galstar will not make it. May pick up a partner at GXY on Tuesday, the 23rd and head for UT for a night or two. Mounatianmatt what are your plans...maybe we could join up?
Looking forward to meeting Mark and Kitty, Rob, Zane and all of the rest of the folks we have corresponded with.
Good flying until we meet.

Re: 06/26/2009 - Annual BCP Summer Fly-in - Johnson Creek, ID

I'll be leaving Tuesday as well. If the weather looks good, I may head over the Rockies to do some camping in UT (Mexican Mountain or Hidden Splendor). But if the weather doesn't look to great I would love to tag along with you guys and make the trip up.

I’m also planning on making the trip back on Sunday so maybe we could head back together as well. I looked into fuel, and it looks like we can dodge most of the $5.00+ 100LL.

My phone is 720.319.3857. Maybe we could catch up this Sun and iron out some plans.

Kitty and I will most likely leave North Dakota on Wed evening. We'll camp somewhere in Montana and come into Johnson Creek on Thursday morning. We are very excited to see all of you again and meet some new friends. We plan to be in Idaho until July the 6th. On June 30th I have a morning of flight instruction scheduled with Lori at McCall. On the fourth of July we are staying in Cascade and riding the thunder mountain train for their fiddles and vittles and fireworks celebration. Hope we have some good weather!

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

Re: 06/26/2009 - Annual BCP Summer Fly-in - Johnson Creek, ID

I will be leaving tomorrow June 25th at 6AM stop in Joseph for breakfast and coffee with ABE. Then on to JC. I should be there by noon.

Will have the SPOT on and I have my trusty ACR 406 PLB

Remember bring a, trade a micro brew if ya want to play along. We are going to throw them in some ice and try something different Saturday night.

This is always interesting. The scientific weather discussion.

Hi All,
Have a great time as I just got back from JC after spending the last 10 days with my SC buddies. My first in JC and my first Mile High. I am still in seventh heaven. We had a chance to go out for breakfast at Sulphur Creek and MacKay Bar call ahead on Mac Kay Bar but the food and coffee were great. Also a gift shop to keep those at home happy with your bar hopping. Sorry I could not wait and see you all but maybe next year

We're flying in Friday evening. The whole family is coming with me, which is great.

We've got lots of fresh veggies, so we're bringing a big salad for the pot luck, and local beer of course! \:D/

Looking forward to it!

I fly from LA to Boise on this Sat. and won't have time to get together a pot luck for Sat. night if I come. Is there anything I can bring that I can easily pick up at the store? Anybody's favorite kind of beer?

Chips, salsa, summer sausage. Cookies. It don't matter. Bring at least 1 micro beer to throw into the exchange cooler.

Just your happy smiling face is enough.

Flew JC to Big Creek to McCall this morning...met a few BCP'ers at the gas pump. Back to JC later this evening when it quiets down.HC
