Last year someone in the group asked if Jeremy would speak to us around the campfire after dinner. He did and it was great fun to hear his stories.

Zane, I'm wondering if you would be willing to talk to the group this year about the forum. What inspired it, some history, and where you see it going. And any thing else you would like to entertain us with. Following that, perhaps you could moderate a "back country stories" session, where others can share some back country experiences with the group. What do you Think?

I'm pulling this forward as I think it may have gotten lost in the thread. Are you in, Zane?

If you fly into Cascade and get fuel, you can use the minivan to run up into town for food.

Re: 2010 Annual BCP Fly-In set - Johnson Creek 25-27 June

Are there some strips with lodges that are fairly close by for breakfast runs?
I have been to Sulfur Cr. and have heard Mackay Bar is a good one

Don't forget Dixie Town. Great food and prices, Cool old town. Always have b'fast. They will fix ya a dinner with advance warning. They did it for us last year, and I voted it best in the west, AWWWWESUM. She asked what we would like.
Made us a pot roast, potatoes, veggies, homemade bread, homemade apple pie and ice creem.
Don't get no better than that.

If ya want to go a little farther(NW), West Fork (Up a little draw, just south of Hamilton Montana)was a great surprise for me. Cool spot, fuel(altho fuel was cheeper in Hamilton). great location, great folks, DEEEElicious food, and a full bar. =D> =D>

I think that sounds great, but I think everyone is probably a little tired of me moderating. :)

Your doing just fine, Zane! By far, this is still one of the best forums/sites on the net for us pilots!

Re: 2010 Annual BCP Fly-In set - Johnson Creek 25-27 June

Is anyone coming going to have a Sat phone??? Is there a pay phone at Yellow Pine? I'm active duty Military and if we get weathered in and I can't make a phone call I could end up AWOL. This would obviously be really bad. I just want to make sure I'll be able to communicate with the outside world somehow should we get stuck for a few extra days.

There is (was?) a phone. Plus, you can run into Yellow Pine for any urgent stuff in one of the loaner vans.

BTW - if you have skype on your phone, you can actually call through the internet connection.

Don't want you to end up in the brig or stockade.

The phone normally works and in dire circumstances like yours, I am sure the caretaker will let you use their phone.

Just go by a drug store and buy an MCI or similar pre-paid phone card with 50 minutes or so and you can call long distance from the phone on the patio. I do that all the time, my company does not understand the word "vacation".

There is also WiFi there and there's always someone sitting at the picnic table under the shelter with their laptop. Last year I did'nt carry a computer but borrowed somenone's when I needed to get a message out.

Re: 2010 Annual BCP Fly-In set - Johnson Creek 25-27 June

I concur with Hi C....

If there is a web cam that updates every few minutes then there has to be a good internet connection..

I could be wrong though. [-o<

Yes, by the caretakers picnic area. There's also a freezer if you need to freeze ice/meat, but it's usually full of stuff from the PA18 fly-in.
