Look for the big rock that looks like half a sphere! It sticks out!

Can someone say what the conditions of their road are? My family and I would like to check out their ranch but I'm not sure if its too soft or narrow for our Bonanza. I don't mind taking it in the dirt but didn't know if there is a fence on either side. Also don't want to bury the nose wheel.

Thanks in advance,
Phil

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Is it possible to access Caveman with a Pickup and 5th wheel? Taking my parents camper and heading down to Meeker,CO to house hunt. Thought we might as well make a vacation out of it and maybe head down to Moab. If we do go to Moab we might as well head over to Caveman, if we can get in there. Probly won't happen but it is a possibility, depending on how the house hunting goes.

Last I was there its was fine for a BO
I would plan on it, it's defiantly long enough.
I bet there will be quite a few guys willing to land ahead of you and radio up last minute conditions the day of, just to be safe.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Driving into Caveman is not too bad at all. Just make sure you get directions from Rod. Last year a guy brought in a 20' enclosed trailer with his insert camper, he seemed to make it with out any damage.

Two weeks ago the strip was in great shape. It appeared that Rod has put in countless hours grooming the strip to near perfection. No soft spots to speak of... Packed gravel conditions prevail.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Was so looking forward to this fly-in and meeting more of the BCP folks out at Caveman! Had the dates in red on the calendar for quite some time, until about a month ago when I realized it was on the same weekend as one of my best friend's from when I lived in Steamboat Springs wedding

Guess I'll have to wait till next year, hope you guys/gals have one heck of a time!!!

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

We are currently at Huntington for fuel food and a hot shower, this is a great airport to stop at! We spent the last 2 nights at Mexican Mountain and stopped by Cedar Mountain this morning. We're about to head out to Mineral Canyon for the night then on to Nokai Dome to meet up with Little John tomorrow. Gary, you can put us down for dinner at Mack Mesa on Friday and Lunch at Rockland Ranch.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Please put my family of four down for a lunch/ tour of the Rockland Ranch.

On another note. I see in the first post that there will be a pig roast Saturday night at Caveman. What I did not see was cost and if we need to RSVP to that. If I missed it then I apologize.

Thanks,

Phil

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

The Mack Mesa BBQ on Friday night is $15 and they will be discounting 100LL by 20 cents a gallon.

The Luau BBQ is on Saturday night at Caveman, perhaps Gary can fill us in on the cost? Knowing Rod and his cooking, it'll be worth every penny.

Not sure of the cost of the Rockland Ranch lunch and tour. (Donation?)

See you folks over there this weekend.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Gary,

We'll be there for breakfasts and dinners - count on 4 of us. That goes for the Rockland ranch as well as the Mack Mesa dinner. Can't wait! I saw Rob and Stacie last night at Mexican Mountain - just don't ask them about my landing...

Can't wait to see you Matt! I think that the dinner was a donation with no set price last year if I remember right. Does anyone know what the base price for fuel is at Mack Mesa? Might forego fueling before we leave.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

With the anticipation of a pretty good crowd this weekend, I had a question. I always want to clear the runway quickly for the next person landing and, when the area north of the lodge is full and there are aircraft already on the cement pad, I've sometimes gotten off to the side to find that it is softer than I thought. Then I've had to round up the push crew to get me out.

I thought I read that there is going to be some new overflow parking. Anyway to have the available places marked or someone on a quad showing us what's available? Or better yet, maybe getting a satellite shot of Caveman and outlining the areas available. This might be especially useful for first timers. Just a thought.

Convinced the wife and we are in! Even my little one...

Should be there sometime Saturday morning. Looking forward to it.

Trying to figure out my details now. Route, gas, etc. Fired up

I believe I have a release on file with Rod Gary but I am also bringing one signed.

Thanks for the email this am!

I just asked Ladd and he said the gas price will be $5.75.
The pump is automated now so it takes credit cards.

For those coming from the West - I fueled at Nephi (u14) self serve last night at 1:00am - fuel was $5.25. Huntington (69V) usually has good prices too, and they will even supply you with wood for your campfire!

Hey Gary,
What is the final setup for the poker run? I am planning on CaveMan early Friday AM in the Cub. Want some help with the 'run?
