Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

I may bring a 12 guage and some shells. Do we need to bring our own clays, or will they be available for purchase? Also, any room at the shooting range for small bore stuff (. 22), or is that a no no at Caveman?

We talked about the skeet shootin today. Hasn't seemed to be any interest. So bring what you want to shoot and have fun, but probly no skeet shooting.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

yes as a matter of tradition... guns may be fired at Midnight much to the chagrin of many of the women who will attend...but then Oregon Maule won't be there so sleep will not be interrupted... wish I was coming but gotta save my vacation flying bucks for JC since number one son has finally agreed to let me pick him up in Boise and Bronx homicide has agreed to let him take a vacation...you all have a great fly in...

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Is there any kind of a main contact number at Caveman Ranch? I'd like to provide it to my designated SPOT watchers so they could reach someone there directly if I had to press the uh-oh button.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Is that midnight firedrill a tradition that must be carried forward? I mean there are women and children will be sleeping cause we are asking them to get up at first light to go fly before it gets hot. And I know it seems like a good idea when you're all loaded up on scotch to break out the pistols and rain down the lead, but when mamas and babies ain't happy - ain't nobody happy. Along about my mid twenties is when I personally realized that I was capable of raising hell quietly without pissing on other people's party. Just sayin' what needs to be said. :D :D :D

You do realize Friday is full moon Soy??? :D I can only image there will be some howling...

Looks like some good winds today and mellowing out for the weekend.

Russ made a comment above on what is in the rooms. Care to bit a bit more specific. I travel with tent, bags and thermarest anyhow but curious...

Inbound tomorrow...

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Thanks for the digits, Gary. I understand that they are not to be relied upon, but I will include them anyway as one more potential arrow in the quiver.

You won't hear any argument from me, Soy. When the sun goes down and the full moon comes up, I plan to focus on the scotch and leave the shootin' irons alone.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

I stayed in a cave last year.... there is nothing, i mean nothing in them.. concrete floor...no water or anything..including toilet... it's like tent camping only quieter... Incidentally I never heard the fireworks at midnight in my cave...but it's a nice change from pitching a tent especially if it's windy like last year...

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

All packed up, including 2 growlers of my latest homebrew....hope they survive the 7hr drive over today. Have to hit up my daughter's final preschool day event first and then I'm on my way. I expect I'll show up between 6-7pm....and then try to figure out where I can park / pitch the tent.
