Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Still have a cave available if anyone wants it

Rob, Phil, Allan Gotcha covered, thanks for the heads up.

Dinner cost is a donation. I have suggested $25-30/plate, but it is up tp you. I know they put a lot of effort into it. Rod had even been readin books to see how to do the perfect Hawaiin pit roast, built a pit, and bought a couple big pigs. No smart remarks :?

If parking starts to get conjested we can probly recruit, some help. Just be patient, do a couple laps around the area if you need to. Talk on the radio to let others know where ya are, but keep it shortn and listen. 122.9

Tom, I posted a tentative list a little ways back. probly be pretty close to that. Maybe make the final decision Fri. Am. and you can probly help put the cards out if ya like.

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

I'll have to check into 122.75 every once in a while! I'll probably be on one of them flight following thingy mabobs up there laying contrails at 17,000ft! haha I leave thurs Morning, so I'll look down for ya Pops! So the word is, listen to 122.75 enroute (to talk professionally of course haha) and change to 122.9 when getting close to Caveman!

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Looks like we will be driving in from canyonlands. Does anyone have directions that can get us there? Like go down that highway, turn on the road with red rocks on it, make a left at the sage bush, then next right...? Anything will do I just don't want trespass anywhere. 8)

Nose draggers can probably land there, rather than at Canyonlands?

I have definitely thought about it. You think they will notice the dust on the tires when I get back. :D

Re: 2013 Caveman Ranch Luau fly-in - May 24-26

Here is a vertical shot of Caveman Ranch. It was shot in 2010, but it's pretty much the same layout. I marked some of the important features. Maybe Gary can let everyone know where to park from this shot? Or at the least you can get an idea of the layout before you fly in. Usually planes park along the runway, both sides starting near the lodge and also behind the lodge there is a spot for 10 or so planes as well near the green in the picture.

It will be long gone an hour afer you leave. A quick fuel stop at a paved strip should remove any remaining evidence of your "precautionary landing" at caveman. Seems a lot of oil temp lights come on while passing over caveman.
