Grassstrippilot wrote:It's getting close! I called today to set up my fuel at McCarthy using the number I found on here for Fireweed Fuel. A voicemail for Rokon Services out of Copper Center answered. Does anyone know if that's the same outfit? Nizina, I think you posted it. Can you confirm please?
We will be leaving the first week of June. I really hope we get to see many of you that are scattered along the way. Please speak up if you'll be around and are up for a visit!

That would be Rowcon Services (Fireweed Fuel) in McCarthy. Phone number 907 554 4498 and ask for Laurie Rowland to set up an account. The fuel is at the main airstrip in McCarthy.

I'm five miles south of McCarthy on the north side of the Nizina River. Drop in for a visit and I can give some insights on where to visit out here in the Wrangell Mountains -- lots of places to land.

And just like that, 6 months have flown by and we are poised to launch next week! I'll be starting another thread with links to our tracking info, planned routes, and to update everyone on our progress. We really hope to meet some BCPers on this trip. So look for the other thread in a few days and please yell if you'll be anywhere near where we will be!

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
When you have a tentative Alaska itinerary, I will see whether I can show up anywhere you are planning to be...or come on out to King Salmon and I will see you here...

Hey Troy! If weather allows us to go in order that we have planned, we should be down on the Kenai and Iliamna area around mid month (15-19 maybe?). I'll keep you posted. Hope it works out!
