Alaska caravan June 2017: which best describes your interest?

I would be very likely to go and have flown to AK before.

Hoodoo Brewing is great! We also enjoyed Pioneer Park, The Pioneer Air Museum, the UA Museum of the North and the Large Animal Research Station. We toured the gold dredge as well. Pretty fun town to visit.

AK 2017 Caravan: Poll

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, here we go again. Allen and I are planning a trip to Alaska this summer and thought I'd update the poll as well as this thread for those that expressed interest in going. The tentative plan is leave early June and be gone 3-4 weeks. If you're interested, chime in.

For comparison, here are the results from the last poll.

Re: AK 2017 Caravan: Poll

Oh man. I would love to, but I sold my 180 a few weeks ago and am in school until the end of June.
If you guys need a stop over with a grass strip that you could camp at let me know, I'm just north west of Grande Prairie if you come on this side of the rocks.

Thanks man! You're on my hit list for places to drop in and maybe spend a night. Bummer about the plane but it would be great to meet you. Thanks again for the invite!

What's the lat/long for your place?

Nothing to be sorry about! I bought a 172 with no engine and should have it running by then, so I may fly a leg with you depending on timing, just won't be able to get out of school long enough to go to AK.
I will get the lat/long tonight when I get home, if I remember... haha.

I'm already here, so i guess it doesn't count.

I will be making the trip up to Soldotna in late April for annual inspection and hopefully some flying around, hoping to be in for the Alaska Aviation Gathering this year.

Since the tourist season will be in full bloom by the time you are heading up, i will have to stay home and work. Skagway is off the regular air travel routes, but the trip over Atlin, Carcross and down the pass is pretty spectacular if the weather is good. Heading up to Anchorage from here is worth the trip also with decent weather, Glacier bay and the Malaspina, Yahtse and Bering glacier fields are pretty cool on the way up to Cordova.

If I don't end up flying up earlier, I would like to tag along. It would be a one way trip for me though.

This is the 75th anniversary of the Alaska Hwy. Lots of celebrations going on along that route. Might be worth checking out.

Cory, what route are you thinking about taking? Weather permitting.

Re: AK 2017 Caravan: Poll

We will obviously be prepared for all three main routs, but I think we'd like to do the trench one way and Ft Nelson etc (the east side of the Rockies) the other. The coastal route coming back might be considered too.

Re: AK 2017 Caravan: Poll

I plan to be at my cabin outside of Watson Lake Yukon for two weeks as soon as the ice is out. Might get as far north as Dawson City while I'm up. I'll monitor this thread to see if the timing will work to meet some of you on your way through.

Re: AK 2017 Caravan: Poll

Cory, I will most likely be going this year. Alot has happened since we last talked. In December I moved into a house at Hesperia airport with a 1700sq' hangar and am selling my house in Riverside and will have some disposable cash to bankroll a trip like this. I've also met an attractive and aviation friendly lady that says she's rairin and ready to make a trip like this. She thinks she can only get about 10 working days off so we are thinking she may only be able to do a 1 way either fly up or back commercial. I'm thinking of heading north June 16 and be back 4th of July weekend.
