Little extra fun goin on.

Ladd called me from Mack Mesa today. Don't really know anything about this airport, except that they just put in a dirt/grass runway there, so, they must be pretty cool up there. :D . And they have 100LL.

The owner(Steve) was at Caveman in the spring with his wife in one of the super cubs. Also made it Marble last month.

Anyways, they are havin a flyin Oct.22 and invited anyone interested to stop by. They are havin a BBQ, and talked about flour bombing and spot landing contests. So, sounds like we have a little extra fun available.

It's pretty close to the Colorado River, probably about 20 miles west of Grand Junction, and 70-80 nm north (up the river) from Caveman. So you can fly the river if ya like either up, back, or both. I haven't flown all of that section from Caveman to Junction, but I have flown some, and it is pretty cool. :)

They are supposed to be sending me a flyer, so I will post it when I get it.

Re: Anyone interested in a fall flyin at Caveman Ranch???

The folks at Mack Mesa have cancelled their flyin. Sounds like some will come down and join us. But, they do have 100LL for $4.50 which is more than reasonable or around here.

Meals
I don't really care if you pay up front or not, but I would llike to know how many are wanting the Sat. night dinner, and the breakfasts on Sat, and Sun. Be nice to know how many to prepare for.
Thanks Gary

Just had a call from Ladd at Mack Mesa. And he sent me a picture of their new grass strip. Pretty cool . Looks like an oasis.
He said they are also offering another $.20/gal dicount on the fuel for anyone participating in the Caveman flyin. Thanks Ladd. That will make it $4.30/gal/100LL

Anyone coming from the NW area thats wants to go flight of two, three or four? Gump what's your story? I can pick you up....

Trying to get Lowrider to go but sounds like he is up for an annual here soon. Could go solo, but if someone is coming through the Tahoe area we could bang out our circuit here and then south east bound for 2.5 hours. It a lot of fun around here...

Weather is looking good.

Re: Anyone interested in a fall flyin at Caveman Ranch???

The identifier is UT68. It is abut 6-7 miles SW of Moab Utah, on the Colo River. Elevation is about 4K' length about 2.7K'. Strip is in exc. cond. There are a lot of other old strips in the area in different conditions. Many are old mining . If you are interested in flying the area, I would strongly recommend getting Galens Fly Utah book, and map. They can be found at this link. http://www.flyidaho.com/catalog/index.php

We had a flyin there in the spring in May. You can search for that thread here to see what's there, pictures and videos.
