Re: Caveman Spring Flyin 2011 May 13-15

I just got my schedule and I got the time off for the fly-in! So, we all will be there. So save us a place in the "circle your planes" area and we'll be there again. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone and some great flying. The poker run as well as the breakfast sounds great.

Now let's just hope for good weather. I even got a few days off the next weekend, but wouldn't be able to be there for the whole thing. So I hope mother nature cooperates.

I was really looking forward to flying down, but now I can't. On the plus side I will be starting my cross country to California the following tuesday after the fly in. That should be a fun trip. Maybe I'll make it out next year.

Yeah maybe we should all do breakfast or lunch somewhere again! Well we plan on being at Johnson Creek too, so we will see everyone there.

Re: Caveman Spring Flyin 2011 May 13-15

It's coming soon, this is going to be a good time!

A few questions/comments
Is the poker run happening? Is it the strips that Rob mentioned? I think this is a great idea with an ending at Mack Mesa for Dinner/gas on Sat. If so (wx depending) would a 8:30-9am departure time be good for everyone? Lunch at Canyons?

Is Mack Mesa going to be doing a BBQ for sure? Price? (Great idea by the way!)

Parking is first come, first serve, but there's plenty of room.

Horseshoe rematch this year?

Nate and I might try camping at Mexican Mountain on Friday night (just because that place is so cool) and I was just trying to get a idea of what's in store for Saturday.

And just a FYI:
Gary is doing breakfast for $8 (food is on you for other meals)
Tent spots are $20/night, rooms are $30/night.
MUST have waiver sent into Rod before the fly-in, if you filled one out last year then you're ok.
Also, this is a camping trip with some amenities. Rod has an amazing place and is an excellent host, but be respectful and haul out what you brought in. They only have a few restrooms so be courteous, and there is no showers (water avail). Cell and 3G service is spotty at best. There are a few neighbors in the area, so be respectful of them while flying too.

Re: Caveman Spring Flyin 2011 May 13-15

Matt
I am planning on having the poker run. I was thinking of having it in the afternoon so people could go fly where they want in the morning, then do the poker run in the afternoon.

Some of the strips Rob mentioned will be included. I think some are too far north. Too much for gas money for some and maybe too much time to get to them and back. People are obviously still free to go visit them.

I have one real good one that most haven't been to, with a cool little canyon flight if it is something they are comfortable with.

It wouldn't make much sense to me to fly to Gateway (Canyons)for lunch from Caveman then back track to the strips for the poker hands, then Mack Mesa, and back to Caveman. But, if it what anyone wants to do, thats fine. Gateway and Mack mesa are pretty close to have lunch, then run to Mack and wait for the BBQ.

If we have hi afternoon winds, we'll do the poker run in the morning.

I don't want to get a situation where people go to Mack for dinner BBQ and are not comfortable flying back to camp, and are stuck at Mack, or flying in conditions they are uncomfortable with.

Personally, I would like the poker run end at caveman so we can celebrate the day with drinks and dinner, and be done flying. Wx may be a factor, so may just wait and see what is going on at the time.

I will put the cards out on Friday, and have a plan by Sat.

Most people will probablyonly have one day for flying. Getting the on Fri, flying Sat., and leaving Sun.

We could have a horshoe match Fri. afternoon/evening for the early birds. Rod is talking about doing a little dinner Fri. night.

And there will be the usual ass woopin on the pool table that night

There is just a lot to do in a short period of time. It really would be better if we planned a week for it.

Sounds good Gary, thanks for the reply.

Also, here's the 2011 Caveman Fly-in shirt. They are $25 each and you can pick them up at the fly-in (or he can ship them after the fly-in, $5 shipping/$30 total). I wonder who's plane that is?!? :P

If you want to pick one up at the flyin, or have someone pick one up for ya, it's probably best to let him or me know this week, not both of us. He will order as requested. After that he will order and ship for extra $5.

Pat, I'm sure any adult sizes are available. Even the 2 man, 4 season model for guys like you. :D
