Re: Grassstrippilot's Flying Adventures

Just got here today. It rained on and off. More than I thought it would. More rain is supposed to come in tomorrow. We had planned on going to Shearer today and then to JC in a day or two but the weather didn’t let us. So we came here. I’d like to stay to Thursday afternoon or Friday but not sure what the weather will mandate.

Re: Grassstrippilot's Flying Adventures

Normally I don't like making long videos, but I did this one more as a memory for me of the trip and to share with grandparents. Anyway, hope you enjoy.

I mid June, Adam and I took a trip to the Idaho backcountry to do some camping and hiking. The weather on the way up changed our plans on where to stay, but it worked out well. Adam and I did an 11 mile hike out of Moose Creek to the Shissler Lookout Tower. 3,700' of vertical. He knocked it out like a champ! It was couple of fun days with some good hiking, flying and friends...despite the rain.

Re: Grassstrippilot's Flying Adventures

In early July the whole family headed to Idaho for the Utah Backcountry Pilot's Fly-in at Smiley Creek. We spent a few days hiking to pictographs in the Frank Church Wilderness, eating great breakfasts, and cooling off in one of the lakes nearby. It was a fun weekend with new and old friends!

Hey! I’ve been a bit absent lately because the ability to post pics when replying was all messed up. Well, it looks like Tapatalk got it fixed! So here are a few highlights from the last few months.

Re: Grassstrippilot's Flying Adventures

It’s been a little bit slow this winter as far as flying adventures go. A few runs here and there but not enough flying. We got out last weekend to get Allen, Emily, Stan and another friend down to Keg Knoll to check out Colonnade Arch. We swung by Green River to say hi to Tent and to get some gas too. Fun day.

That’s awesome Cory! How far is the hike to the arch from Keg Knoll?

Grassstrippilot's Flying Adventures

An easy 2 miles. There is also the Cowboy cave and the Great Gallery in that area too. We will be back to do them.

Re: Grassstrippilot's Flying Adventures

We had a great day of flying with friends today. I had a chance to get an airline friend out and show him the 205 and some off pavement landings. Good times!

Re: Grassstrippilot's Flying Adventures

After 2 weeks of rain, I finally got out with a friend today to do some really great flying. There was still a lot of moisture out and about, but we were able to pick out way down to a private strip on the Green River we had always wanted to check out (with permission). It was a really neat place. Then over to another favorite, Mexican Mountain. The dessert is in full bloom. I’ve never seen so many flowers at MM! I had a really interesting thing happen on departure (See “All (partially anyway) Jammed Up” post). Overall a great day if flying!

So much snow still on the mountains!

Apparently, I've been watching way too many late-night movies, because the log in that last picture looked like a giant snake (anaconda, maybe) when I first looked at it!
