So a pilot who will go unnamed starts his airplane up and heads down the chicken strip, he makes about halfway to flying speed before the gasoline runs out any He coast to the end of the strip. 3 more seconds and we would have been scraping him out of the sagebrush. That was close. It wasn't me!!!

Chicken Strip Group,

Hazard Weather Warning put out earlier today for S. CA area with winds 30-40 Sun & Mon. Now I check and the winds are to be upto 20 near PalmDale area on Sun and less on Mon. So if possible watch the winds in the Owens Valley before you depart. It is changing rapidly on the reports.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: Socal&Arizona 1/4-19/2013

Good to see you made it. I could tell from your spot that you either landed or augered in at the end of the strip...which seemed fairly unlikely...

Brutal warm weather here, 40 and blowing...we're going to lose our ice. Which is a bummer...that's what opens up the whole world in the winter...maybe it will be back later on.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: Socal&Arizona 1/4-19/2013

thing about Rob is he forgets to turn his spot off when he lands so if you zoom in you can see where he walks.... and after he's had a few you can see where he stumbles...and finally passes out.....

That looks like a BD5 impaled on a pole. I guess that's a good place as any to put one.
If there's naked girls about, it sounds like a place where you don't need parkas, snow shovels or umbrellas. Now that's Heaven.

Will try to get some more info on Calexico and Shrimp for tomorrow, still a ???

Looks More like Wed 8th for Shrimp Lunch at Calexico for any that want to Join in. Should plan on arriving about 11:30ish to get ahead of the crowd. Some planes will be leaving from Corona and Hemet. All are Welcome. We usually Monitor 136.100 as it has no usage down in the S. CA area.

Good a new place for me. I'll be ready. Anyone (iceman) want to do Hemet, Lake Wolford or Big Bear for brunch tomorrow.

Cheers...Rob

Welcome handsrdirty: I'll probably come up to your airport and say hi and get some gas. Will you be around Thursday around lunch time?

Cheers...Rob

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: Socal&Arizona 1/4-19/2013

I'm retired and almost always around, but sorry, not this Thursday, going down the hill in the morning and back Friday around 1100.

I should get my prop back from the shop today, then I'd like to meet up with you BCP guys in So Cal. Sounds like you keep busy flying.

We've got good pricing on avgas at Big Bear, $5.03 (never thought I'd say $5 was a good price)
