OregonMaule Destinations: Local for awhile

hahaha. He maned up. Only had his private 2 months. Thought he need a panic stop. He did not. Nothing hurt but the tire and his pride.

The whole freeking town turned out to help. Even a passerby who was a professional mechanic stopped.

Hey Eric: doing finish painting now. The last big things are cabinetry and appliances. July 4th 2016 is our goal to be done. We have built it all out of pocket, that's why it will be 3 years in April. I like a project and not having a mortgage is a big plus.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: Local for awhile

Good thinking-- taking on a mortgage esp for something optional like an airplane or vacation home isn't a good idea IMHO.

Hey Doug: April is a no go. End of March, Spring break. Wife, daughter, and son in law are driving to Palm Desert via Zion, Vegas, and Grand Canyon. April I'm seriously thinking Llano for the Texas STOL. wx wx wx.

Flying to Pacific City today, then central Oregon tomorrow for the annual. We got some nice wx going on here for a few days.

Cheers...Rob

It was a good day.
I looked at the WebCam and said "The beach is calling I must go"

The east wind was howling at Troutdale, which makes for a really good ground speed.

Hey Rob,, I was up there yesterday with a friend checking out another friends airplane in the shop. Rob B arrived from Texas in a 182RG while we were there. He was spent to say the least. Your Maule is looking good! Sorry I missed you.

Re: OregonMaule Destinations: Local for awhile

Don't despair Rob, probably just a worn exhaust guide. Real common with Continentals, Lycomings not so much. Premier right there at Troutdale does good cylinder repairs, they just worked one over for me last spring. $275 flat rate for labor. Along with new valve keepers, intake seat, exhaust guide & valve, a ring set, and a gasket set, it added up to about $700.

OregonMaule Destinations: Local for awhile

I hear ya Bryan, Doug, and Erick.

The cylinder is at Premier, Jim said 2 days. Flame tube ordered from Custom Aircraft parts. I have a crack in the airbox, doing brake caliper o rings, brake pads, oil cooler over haul, and a mag issue to address. I'll be done in 2 weeks.
