I spotted this Queenair at Biella in Italy earlier this year. Oil and filters, a quick buff and it should be ok...

Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

We recently acquired a 1977 Cessna Hawk XP that sat derelict for the last 13 years at the “big” airport in our valley.. These are the before pictures..

Right after replacement of the flat tires..

Image

Bird nesting in the engine..

Got all that cleaned out.. new battery, overhauled fuel pump, replaced some hoses... fired right up and flew her to home field and now she looks like this...

We gave it a much needed bath.. have a carpet kit and most of the plastic interior panels on order.. rebuilt the nose strut... replaced the fuel gauge senders in the tanks... scoped out the engine, clean as a whistle in there... little by little we are getting it back into nice shape..

Awesome! Always love to see a mummy resurrected. IMHO It didn't happen enough.

Re: Photo thread: Ramp Mummies

While on a trip to Bangkok to inspect a casino owned L-1011, across the ramp I spied this beauty. No 747 should be subjected to this kind of neglect...

OK, it was a Thai school owned aircraft (maintenance?), the 'engines' are wood and styrofoam fakes, but it took closer inspection to notice. I walked 1/2 mile from my aircraft just to confirm what I was seeing, mesmerized the entire way.

This one is at Monroe First Flight Field W16
Possibly not worth saving, but with the field closing this year, wonder if they'll let it be rescued.

Fuel stop at KGZL, Stigler OK in May 2024 and saw this forlorn 1964 BAC Jet Provost P84 MK 4, N219JP. Too far gone?

Winter has finally arrived at 32S, kind of cool seeing these neglected Cessnas with their noses stuck in the air! Some planes……

There’s a rental place/guy in S FL who would LOVE those

His operation is getting planes like that, fixing them up, and he’s does a heck of a job from engine to new style paint, then he rents them out as they are listed for sale, once one sells shortly after another comes online to replace it.
