Re: Spring Utah Fly-in Pt 2 (April 30-May 2)

Making the go/no go call on Tuesday is good for me. The weather window for me to get out of here is open on Wednesday but looks bad for Thursday/Friday. I am nearly at Aberdeen, SD. We are going to make Sidney Neb on Wed. Sit out Thurs. in Sidney. Friday morning the plan is to leave early from Sidney with Hi Country taking the lead going by way of Cheyenne, Craig, Co., Grand Junction and Moab.
Tuesday I will be checking your postings to look for the call either way.
Works for me.

Re: Spring Utah Fly-in Pt 2 (April 30-May 2)

Thanks for the heads up Gary. The few on the east side of the rock pile might have a difficult time getting over to your side, but don't let that stop you from having it. It sounds like more are planning on coming from the west anyway. Even if you have it the following weekend I can't make it due to prior commitments. Regardless, I'm going to try to head over there sometime in May, maybe a smaller group could meet up then.

I miss hearing the old rat rods with straight pipes going up and down main in Moab this time of year. Good times indeed!

Gary I am in for 4-30 or 5-7 Thanks for all your hard work. I think HiC should be excluded. Every time he plans a trip the wx gets bad.

Thanks for the update Gary. You guys know your weather down there better than anyone else and what is likely to develop or not develop. The following weekend won't work for us. Have to make the doughnuts.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the forecast will improve! As is, it's not looking great. :x

That looks great.....................not. Especially coming from NW Oregon.

I need cloud bases 500-1000' over the mountain tops for safety. It is not looking real good right now. Wait and see.

Gary no matter what happens keep my money for your trouble. Just send me my tee shirt if I can't get there.

Gary:

I'm hoping the wx gods work for this week-end. About an 80% chance I could do it on the 7th.

I'm with Rod, just keep the $$ if it gets cancelled. I appreciate all you have done to make it happen!

I'd love to do the fly-in as planned, but unfortunately my Cherokee goes out of annual this weekend, and my mechanic can't get to it till the following weekend.

It does sound like maybe a sizeable contingent of bcp folks might be interested in a follow-up gathering later in May. :D

Rob...I would stay home if it meant good wx for the rest of you :^o ...not! Just got back from Loveland through Cheyenne..clouds sitting on the mountain tops west of Loveland.....Cheyenne lots of wind and virga over the Sherman Hills west of Cheyenne..winds are gusting to 40 knots here at SNY. I know a lot can change between now and Friday but I will not try to fly in the mountains with this S*%T as bad as I want to come.
Gary, count me in the same as Rob..if it doesn't happen this weekend or next, just send me the shirt..I can always tell stories, I already have the pictures and videos. Again thank you for your efforts and I hope this thing really works out.

Re: Spring Utah Fly-in Pt 2 (April 30-May 2)

Well, just got done readin what I can about upcoming weather, and have decided that in the interest of getting the most fun for the buck, it would be best to cancel for this weekend and hope for better conditions for next weekend. There are pretty big winds for atleast the next couple days, rain, snow, thunderstorms, (pretty much everything you don't want when you are just going out for fun) in the forecast.

Right now the forecast into mid/later next week is looking pretty good, so, lets just hope that it will hold and most will be able to still make it. I know some wont be able to make it next week, and I am sorry for that. But I am sure that a lot would not been able to make it this weekend, and if the flying wasn't any good, then it would be a lot of effort/$$$'s for naught.

Hopefully some that couldn't make it this weekend will be able to make it next weekend, and have a more enjoyable/safer trip getting there.

For those that can't make it and have sent in a check, let me know, and I will get your check back to you. If you had asked for a shirt, I would hope that you would still like it (since I was out of pocket for them)and that I can deduct that cost and send your shirt and remainder of money to you.

So, I guess if you have good weather whereever you are, go practice your slow flight and spot landings, and hope for great weather next week/weekend, and come have the fun then.

Rob

And others who have said "Keep the money". That a generous offer, and I appreciate it, but I wouldn't feel right in keeping it. It never was about the moneyfor me. I just wanted to meet some new folks, and have some fun. \:D/ \:D/

But it is a good step in getting the good karma thing goin. =D> Hopefully it will be enough to insure us some geat weather for next weekend. =D> =D>
