Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

porterjet wrote:PDX is tough? Try SFO on a clear day when they are doing parallel landings on 28L and R and and the same time doing parallel departures on 1l/R. There is nothing like starting your takeoff roll on 1l and being passed by a 737 rolling down 1R. Then I started flying bizjets, it is more fun being the passer than the pasee.

PDX wasn't as tough as I thought it would be.
I'll steer clear of SFO!

Sometimes it's easier with them towered airports if you tell 'em on your initial call-up that you're coming in on one engine -- you get some real priority treatment thataway. But I have to warn you that sometimes them tower controllers don't have much of a sense of humor. :(

Terry,

Congrats on PDX. I know what you mean. Someday I'll have to do it.

I'll give you 20 bucks if you fly into SeaTac in your 182 (or Stinson) as PIC.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Rod - It really is a beautiful area. Those who aren't familiar never believe it, but I'd argue that Van Sant and Andover are two of the most unique fields in the country. Flying off a grass strip with no radio with a nice view of the Manhattan skyline - how cool is that??

Alaskaflyer - Sorry, borrowed a phrase from my background - bouncing meaning to do multiple T&Gs. As hamfisted as I was it is tough to get much of a bounce out of a champ.

Z - Sorry I missed you up there. Looks like you busted your ski-flying cherry, did I miss the pics on here??

Matt - I evacuated NJ before the snow hit. All flights out of the NY area were cnx'd. I actually drove down to DC to catch a flight out of there. If I hadn't, I'd still be stuck on the east coast.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Yes, Zane got his ski flying cherry busted!

It was sort of funny....he was flying in the right seat and I asked him if he were comfortable over there. He was response was yes!

So about 2 miles out I said your landing this time...He said, "Dude, there is no way I am landing your plane". I said, you said your were comfortable over there....he then proceeded to land on the skis! Cherry busted! Simple!

I know he has some good video I too am awaiting to see. Come on Zane....You gotta put it up.

Good times all in all!

Love the skis! 76 landings and counting now...

Re: Where did you fly today?

A few days late but we have to make exceptions for our mothers. Before Christmas I said I would take my mother to Sioux Falls to visit my brother and his family. I picked her up in the morning and one mile into the trip when we were nearing the corner to my farm I asked if she would like to be there in an hour or spend the next three driving there. She said you mean fly down? I said if you want. She came back with its about time I do something for fun again. I had plugged in the Reiff heaters three hours before and put an electric heater inside the cabin knowing she would want to do this. I turned the corner to my farm and just headed for the hangar, got her in the warm plane before I even pulled it out. It was +9 degrees.
Here she is outside the plane at Y14, near the south end of Sioux Falls. The air was smooth and it was a good time.

Mom's 80, but at my age she spent three weeks on a raft going down the Amazon.

After a long stressful week I managed to sneak in a quick flight after work today. Not exactly sure where this was but looked interesting.
