Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Howdy! Didnt want to start a new post so figured I'd add it here... "Where are you flying next"! I'm taking my tundra from Montreal to Alaska, leaving Saturday the 16th..so if you're in between let me know and I'll try my best to swing by! Making a stop in Yellowknife for sure... Once I land in WHitehorse, I'll refull and off to Cordova and maybe hit the ski hills! Cheers BCT

RobBurson wrote:Y'all know I love Pacific City, Oregon. I was going to fly somewhere today because it is the only good day this week.

Brent AKA highroad called and ask if I wanted to do PC. No brainer, yes. Brent brought his kids and his friend Tim. They had never flown into PC. Brent stuck the landing in his V35 Beechcraft Bonanza. Yes! I did say highroad has added a fast plane to his airplane arsenal. The wx was kinda if eee around Troutdale, but it got nice as I headed west towards the Pacific Ocean.

I couldn't give the right seat away. Everybody had to work

After lunch at the Pelican Pub I made my way back home and mowed grass for 2.5 hr. Then back to the airport and met my son. We went to Salem, Oregon for dinner at the Flight Deck Restaurant.

What a great day! Rob

Rob,
Great to see you as always, and thanks for playing Mr. tour guide of PC. I'll put a couple of pics up tomorrow.

Good to see you out flying with your boy......my dad gave me that start and I am forever grateful.

Best,
Brent

Flew Anchorage to Talkeetna but it was a little too gusty for having the baby along, so went to play in the mud in Willow.

Where did you fly today?

This week and next I'm down south at KMEV working on my commercial requirements in a Piper Arrow II. For the purposes of passing the PTS I like the heavy stable feel, but otherwise, yuck. Been a while since I was PIC in a nosewheel airplane...I'm pretty sure yesterday I was within millimeters of scraping the tail on landing more than once ;) Waddya gonna do? I'm used to tail low wheel landings with 8.50s.

The practice area is pretty much over our ranch in Carson Valley, hopefully my father in law doesn't start shooting at us :D

Anyone want to do lunch at the Taildragger Cafe let me know.

A neighbor and I never seem to cross paths (flown to his place 4 times now and no one is ever home) so today we made it happen. Glad we did!!! Great weather and great evening of flying with Moose and my sister!

My sister snapped this great pic!

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Do you have a SPOT adventure page? Most smartphones can GPS tag pictures, then SPOT adventures will match them up with your flight path.

I think its a cool easy way to show the story.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Flew into Mexican Mountain on Friday and camped overnight. In the morning, a few of the members of the Utah Backcountry Pilot Association flew in and we cleaned up the airstrip and replaced the old windsock. Beautiful weather!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Had a wonderful half day bumming around Oregon and Washington. I had a buddy in my plane. Terry from BCP joined us in his 180. A few weeks ago at the BCP McMenamin's meeting I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie Elsner. He has his own strip in the hills north of Hood River, Oregon. Bernie is in Washington. Bernie was in a very bad plane crash 5 years ago and almost died. Bernie was a commercial Jet pilot before he retired. He has a RV6 and a RV4.

After Bernies we headed SE to Wasco, Oregon and the Lean To Restaurant and Bar. Good food. After lunch we found out Terry still needs to work on his starter some more. You can hand prop a O470. Second pull, vroom.

The next stop was 3 Rivers private strip to check my buddies property. Don Watts gave us a ride. Thanks Don. Don is a BCP guy and part of the McMinnville area pilots.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I wasn't able to tag along with Rob today, but I stole away after work and visited the soaring club at North Plains (yes I deadsticked it in from 3,000 ft :)) to chat some fellows about membership. Lovely evening to be out flying, Im glad the days are getting longer.

Is Bernies strip the "Port Elsner" on the sectional? That White Salmon area is pretty country.
