Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

finally the rains stopped for a few days and everyone and everything is out and doing something, so i thought i'd load it up and go play golf at rooster run in petulama. after landing i got my bike out and strapped my clubs on and rode over to the course and being a single player thought i would have no trouble getting on. and as usual my good thoughts had nothing to do with reality for every time slot had a booking and no where was there a slot for a single to play. what to do? a golf lesson sounded good so at it i went. after a few shots the instructor asked how long i'd been playing and i replied 15 years, so he says to me"what do you think i can do to help your game after all this time swinging like you do: you should just concentate on your short game and forget about learning how to swing, after all, its been a long time and nothing i can say will correct it". so i asked him how short is short, and he replies that short for me is about 50 yds plus putting. well it takes many strokes for me to get within 50 yards so this is not what i thought would be benificial to my game. twenty minutes into this lesson i thought for the money i am paying this guy to give me b.s. i could be out spending the same amount of money and practicing my flying skills. needless to say that's what i ended up doing, and that's what i did the other day. john

Went out in the pattern for a half an hour earlier. The wind was 20mph straight down the runway, that made for some fun steep approaches.

I went flying today and finished up Steve's tailwheel rating. He's now one happy man and sure loves flying his new (to him) Cessna 140.

Congrats Steve!

Hey Allen,

Could you post a picture of your camera and mount on the strut? I'd like to see what you have it mounted and what you are mounting. I have a camera that I want to get mounted.

Thanks,

Cory

Next time just do a low pass and look for this brown sign off to the side of the beach then you will know you're there before you land.

Two bright orange windsocks too. Look at WDOT's airport directory. It has a good picture of the strip that should make it easier to figure out too. Or Google earth too.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Stellar day yesterday in NW Oregon... Met up with DCO-65 and we visited Drifter at his home strip (best farm strip on the west coast), then hopped over to Watts' place. Sorry we missed you, Don. After that, a run over to Lenhardt's to see if we could find any donut crumbs, but no luck.

Strapped my ATC9K to the fuse. I think if I build a Tundra, I am going to install nutplates around the cockpit specifically for the purpose of mounting cameras. :)

This video has some funnies for sure...still getting used to that flap handle. My teeth did survive the final landing. Was going for a wheelie and thought I felt em touch, but I guess not. Little too quick on the trigger. #-o

Re: Where did you fly today?

Nice hour with my 4-y/o spent on saturday in the local area. Saw sheep, caribou and golden eagles from the air. Then landed, and got to see a lynx chase a squirrel up a tree, right next to our porch.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Practiced my short field landings today with the just installed 8.50's. While on short final for the grass on runway 03, Skymaule called me as he was landing his kerosene burner at Gordon NE.
Just a good day to fly.

KPFC Pacific City Lunch Run

Y'all know I love Pacific City, Oregon. I was going to fly somewhere today because it is the only good day this week.

Brent AKA highroad called and ask if I wanted to do PC. No brainer, yes. Brent brought his kids and his friend Tim. They had never flown into PC. Brent stuck the landing in his V35 Beechcraft Bonanza. Yes! I did say highroad has added a fast plane to his airplane arsenal. The wx was kinda if eee around Troutdale, but it got nice as I headed west towards the Pacific Ocean.

I couldn't give the right seat away. Everybody had to work

If I can't have a beer I'll just eat this coaster, it taste like beer.

I'm so hungry I could eat my thumb

After lunch at the Pelican Pub I made my way back home and mowed grass for 2.5 hr. Then back to the airport and met my son. We went to Salem, Oregon for dinner at the Flight Deck Restaurant.

What a great day! Rob
