Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Dammit I hate when i do that  I wrote a whole post and bumped the wrong button and it all went away somewhere.

Take Two.

We had family visiting and I took them all to Juneau to catch the jet, It took two trips to get us all down there, whales were bubble feeding near Juneau. We had meant to stay down and catch a movie then spend the night and come home the next morning but SouthEast weather didn't get the message. [-X The clouds and fog and rain rolled in and we got to stay another day and spend a few hundred more buckeroos to spend another night and day there. We finally got home this AM by flying around and through several small rain squalls but at least now my plane is clean =D>

Re: Where did you fly today?

Great video HC, thanks for coming down from NE to say hi.

We had a gathering at our strip last night. A few more were hoping show, but a late day storm came through and about blew the needles off the cacti. (Had to be gusts close to 50mph.)

Nate, Mush and I made it in and out of this little spot before the gust front hit. I had to do some creative thinking (and flying) to get down.

After we were safely on the ground, we tucked all three planes in the hangar in case of hail.

Extremely impressive sunset!

After the storm passed we cheered to a day well lived and consumed a few low budget brews. We hit the sleeping bags pretty hard that night and HC gifted us with a stealth approach in the morning. None of us were to quick to get up. #-o 8)

After a few hours of BSing and waiting to see if anyone else would show, we darted off in our different directions.

Fun stuff, thanks guys for coming out.

It's called Adobe Mesa. Pretty much covered with scrub brush and rocks. A couple of jeep roads but they are fairly rough.
I will try to get some video of it tomorow and post it.

Re: Where did you fly today?

got back yesterday at 3 from a week at JC.. had some rain a couple of nights but all in all a great week there.. was gonna come home today but too many airplanes there for the 180 185 fly in and harmonica fest... been to both before so I figured I'd leave Sat.... first time I ever flew south through the desert without a bump or any turb...satisfied my fly fishing itch with numerous 18-20 inch cuts at Sulphur creek ... amazing to see 4 foot salmon in a small creek like that every year...thanks to Mark and Kitty,(Skymaule) Don and Fran, who also showed up and made it a great week with old friends...and good to see Curtis at Elk City for a day... :D

Re: Where did you fly today?

Sunriver to Cresent Lake with my wife, brother and sister in laws. Had a good breakfast 5 minute walk from the airport. When we got ready to leave it was getting warm and the wind was wrong for the down hill and lower terrain. After some deliberate calculations I knew the mighty Maule could do it. I certainly wouldn't want any more heat, weight, or wind.

Got back to Sunriver and finally got to meet Mauleguy in person. Nice to meet you Lisa, sorry to cut your head off in the picture Greg.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Russ (GliderGeek), his wife and two dogs came up to Idaho for the weekend. They flew up to JC on Saturday for the Harmonica Festival and then on Sunday I went with them in their C180 to Sulphur Creek, Bruce Meadows and Garden Valley. Had a blast and a great motivator to get working on my plane!! (oh wait, I still don't have any money  , oh well  ). Anyway, here's some pictures to share.............
