Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Cool spot. Know it well. Gonna do a Calpine run once I get Cessna out of annual. Anyone care if you park overnight there or at Totem Pole?

Re: Where did you fly today?

aktahoe1,

Was that beach landing at Lahonton Reservoir?
We were stationed out that way until 06' and that area looks sort of familiar.

Darn I miss being there!!!

Hey....I resemble that remark!!! Looks like a great day of flying. Glad to hear the brake issue was only a small surprise, and not a big issue. If you guys head out on the 31st, I would sure like to follow along.

You have a real smooth road to the old house that is every bit of 2000'. Lucky for me the landing was one of the easier ones and plenty wide as I lost my brakes on the passenger side and nearly ground looped myself today. Upon inspection I had a small hydraulic leak coming out of the connection and that in turn gave me no pressure in the line...

I am calling this one "the old house". Really beautiful spot...

Re: Where did you fly today?

Good meeting you Brain!

Gump - you can camp at Totem pole 2 no problem. Its Frank Nervino's old strip. Our strip north of Frenchman's is a cool spot to camp as well. Spoke to Mike Brierly the land owner yesterday. We need to get a crew together and by that place! He knows there are a number of us looking at it. Thats were I would camp. You could also camp at the "bumpy barn" but you really need to know the little details about getting in and out of that one. I would not want to camp at this "little old house" as its real close to the land owners house so your really not that private. Stampede Reservoir has a couple cool spots to camp as well but again you just need to know where to go. There are a lot of options. We need to get you on the circuit up here so you know it. Your so dam close.

Yes that picture is Lahonton. Beautiful spot! Thats were I could like to camp now. My buddy Glen Plake (the famous skier with a mohawk) owns the house on the North shore with the little strip next to the house.

Kevin,

Not looking at camping, just a closer bike ride into Calpine. I usually stay at Sam & JoAnn Chesney's place across from the lodge.

I had an awesome day of flying today! Too bad I only had my Iphone. I landed the most crazy spot I've ever stuck my bird today. It was short and steep and made Mile Hi look pretty easy. Good stuff!!

A little low level down the Pecos. :) It is the only color around here.
We had snow for Christmas, but by the time the sky is clear enough to fly, it's all gone. #-o

I just PO'd some duck hunters. They had their decoys out in a flooded 20 acre field of mine. I made two water ski passes and left wake.

What a stellar flying day today.

Hit 10 places, grass landings at 9 of them though two had pavement alternates.

Pilot pastures, sabins, biggles, whissler, cricket, bear valley, Elma, kimbrals, chehalis, and scappoose. I'll try to get video or pictures soon,

I got to do some of that last spring, when the valley below flooded. Who needs a lake or river? Just got to keep an eye out for the fence lines

Ya missed Daybreak! One of my favorites. Not familiar with sabins, biggles, or wissler-- at least not by those names.
Does Kimbralls welcome visitors? I've overflown it before hoping someone would come outside & wave me on in, but no luck. I've heard he has some cool airplanes, including a DC3.

Re: Where did you fly today?

That looks like a fun site Joey, very cool!

With the 6:00 tires I need to use when on my wheel skis, I am just flying over and looking at all my usual Bushwheel equipped haunts, and the lack of snow means no ski action either, unless I go north some distance and I've been too busy at "work" for that. This just means that when it does snow, it will be even more fun of course....and I can always put the big 'uns back on if worse comes to worse, but sure as hell the day after I did that we'll get a blizzard #-o

Great to see Ed out having fun. Make sure he keeps the Pitts and his AC Adventurer well excercised.
