Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Snow in the outlook here- I just came in from putting on all the plane covers. Glad to have gotten in three separate flights yesterday. :D

Here's to the coming ski season!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Had a buddy come visit today in his sweet IAR-823. Romanian primary military trainer, retractable, fully aerobatic, 1,100 pound useful load, IO-540. Very cool plane, and this one is in beautiful shape. Handled my dirt strip without any trouble.

Then I got busy turning my old dirty -12 into a bad mamba jamba for High Sierra next week. (I realize this is like buying new clubs to fix my golf swing , but I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of all the BCP hot shots coming to HSF.)

I've been wanting to add VGs for a long time. I wrung it out for 90 minutes this morning in all configurations, just so I'd know how much better it feels tomorrow morning when I get to fly it with the VGs. I feel like a kid on Christmas eve tonight! [-o<

Re: Where did you fly today?

We had our annual airport open house today. I flew 11 Young Eagles. And these guys brought a DC-4 into our 3000 foot strip. Biggest plane that's ever landed there.

And we had a B-25 show up as well.

Had to try the VGs out today. They work good. Even better, they were all still on when I got home.

I only had my cell phone, but here are a couple of pics from the morning.

Sunrise over the Great Divide Basin.

Hit up the old Vaca-Dixon with Joey...he said he knew the guy...so I wouldn't go here unless you know the guy like Joey does!

Also went up and landed at Beryessa again...water is even lower now.

Hit up some other places but that's all for pics! It was a nice day....and then it started to get hot so I put the ol' girl away. Supposed to be 99 here today :(

Re: Where did you fly today?

Had an awesome flight around lake wenatchee and leavenworth area. I took my wife and kids for some sight seeing to check out the fall colors. My wife had grand plans of taking real pictures, but her camera was dead, so you'll have to settle for some lame iphone pics. Turns out we were about a week early on the colors anyway. Still, a beautiful day to play in the Cascades with my family!

Not to sure. I reposted the [IMG] links and it worked. Nothing was altered, that I know of?

Thank you for the pictures!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Looking for a little practice for Kevin's HSF next weekend, I headed up the hill to Blue Canyon (BLU) on Saturday morning.
Blue Canyon is not backcountry, or even "side country" as Zane has called some strips, but it does have a nice patch of dirt at the north end of Runway 15. Thanks to a little western sierra inversion layer, I had 70F air temps and a density altitude of 6900ft by 8:00am. Again, not real high, but a fun place to fly a dozen trips around the pattern! Really looking forward to next weekend.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Went down to my mates strip this morning to look over his solar system, beautiful little strip! I wish i had a 6 plane hangar attached to my house! Though currently housed in the hangar is that gorgeous 180 i always show off, a murphy rebel under construction with some amazing home built anphib floats, a full race spec wrx and all the parts required to rebuild an ex vietnam war australian army forward air control cessna 180.

Re: Where did you fly today?

A group of 180's went to western Colorado to camp and play around. Great fall flying with wonderful weather.
