Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Hell no, the day after he posted that it rained like a bitch all day long! Here on the Olympic Peninsula, we do live in the rain shadow of the mountains , so we generally get less rain than say Seattle. Some folks brag about Sequim's "blue hole", 20 miles west of Pt Townsend-- Sequim is in fact probably the driest place on the Peninsula but it's often a gray hole instead of blue.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Don't know where Petersen's dairy is or was, but it's true that farm op's are going away in favor of golf courses, housing developments, and other growth. Small family-owned farms are just not all that profitable, and as the old folks die off their kids usually sell out instead of continuing on with the family business. And more and more people are moving in.

Nobody seems to talk about it these days, but remember years ago when a big worry was the "population explosion"? I don't know where the people are coming from, but around here anyway the smaller towns all seem to be filling up and as a result the quality of life is taking a downturn.. Trying to prevent that by "growth management" is like trying to reduce the birth rate by locking the door to the delivery rooms, instead of pushing birth control. I think we need to address population growth by encouraging smaller families- maybe by eliminating the tax deductions for kids or even changing it to an added tax for each one.

Re: Where did you fly today?

The Peterson place is about 5 miles southwest of Sequim. Soren and Evelin Peterson. Both pass away 5 and 15ish years ago. Two of the boys Jeff and Marty built a golf course. Haven't been in the area for 15+ years...

I'm no a golfer, but there's three golf courses near Sequim that I know of. None are SW of town, but the newest one, Sky Ridge, fits your time frame. It's on Old Olympic Hwy, NW of town, and NE of the Sequim Valley Airport.

The "Sequim Valley" (more like the Sequim Flats) has several private strips, even though a few have gone away in recent years. Kind of reminds me (in a lesser way) of Oregon's north Willamette Valley, where it almost seems you can't throw a rock without hitting a grass strip.

Yeah, yeah... I know it's not the best, but at under 60 hr TT I'm still very much a work in progress. I drug that one in; a little low and fast. Need to work on a steeper approach.

Guess it's sometimers? I know I turned right just south of town... Wait that'd be west. My late wife's elder sister was married to Jeff Peterson and lived on the farm. Every time we visited my chores were getting their three horses refamiliarized with a saddle and chopping firewood. Neat old place.

Flew a 1.2 near the superstition mountains in AZ today doing a qualitative evaluation of a MD-902 (NOTAR) with a factory MD pilot. It was awesome!
