Hangar flying with a group of school kids. One of the older girls was into it, and I bored the Hell out of the rest of them.

We drove past Diamond Point Airpark (2WA1) on the way back from shopping in Sequim today. Based on the size of the herd on the runway, it's a good thing we weren't flying. They need to introduce wolves or bows & arrows to the airpark community!

You can make a low pass to spook them off the runway, but by the time you come around again to land those darn deer will be right back out there. After one of the local guys hit one when landing a few years ago, the airport assn. did invite some bowhunters to come out & thin the herd. Some people in the neighborhood (illegally) feed the deer and raised hell about the hunting, so the bowhunters were told to concentrate on the west end of the airport (away from DP Road). There are less deer than before, but this time of year esp you still see a lot of them over there.

Flew to Pemberton for lunch on Sunday. Departed Langley(cynj) and went straight up Pitt Lake and followed the river to Whistler then descended down to Pemberton. There was fresh new snow on all the mountains and glaciers and it was beautiful . We ended up with 8 planes/12 people and had a great lunch at the Black Squirrel Restaurant at the Pemberton Meadows Golf course, which is open 1 month early his year. After lunch I followed the Lillooet River down to Harrison Lake and on to Langley at 1500ft looking for black bears and deer. I didn't see any game but it was a great flight. Forgot the camera in the truck so no pictures.

Perfect day on the west coast of Vancouver Island - found a rare glass float and lots of whales off shore.

Cbfraser, what is that you're flying? Is it a modded Pacer?

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Right, a stretched pa20, aka Bushmaster, IO360, D&E wings, not much pacer left in it.....

Nice airplane! I was wondering what area on the west coast do you land on the beach? I have spent some time up in Tofino and really enjoyed it.
Thanks

There are lots of beaches on the west and north coast of Vancouver Island - many are suitable for landing and most of those are hard sand that a couple of hours after low tide hardly leave tire marks from light twins. Some are loose gravel or very steep and getting above high tide mark to stay over night can be a challenge.

The sand does look very hard in some of the your pics. Looks like a great way to spend your day. I need to get back up there. Beautiful area. Nice photos as well. Thanks for sharing!
