Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

We are up in Vancouver Washington visiting my parents and yesterday we flew out to Copalis State Airport to dig razor clams.

I'm surprised not to see a beach full of airplanes, usually when razor clams is open there's quite a crowd. Guy I know flew out there Saturday & said there weren't any airplanes there then either.

There was actually about 10 planes on the beach when we landed. You just can't see them in any of the pictures.

You can see some planes on the beach in this picture.

Three clam guns, three clam hunters, three limits?
Do they still have regs against keeping everyone's clams all in the same bucket?

Re: Where did you fly today?

The limit is 15 clams per person per day. My dad and my brother were in the 172 and half of those clams are theirs. The other half my wife and I dug up. We all had separate containers while we were clamming. Had to lay them out all together for a picture right before we took off and left. :D

It does make a pretty impressive photo!
I just hope no one from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Clams sees it!
But I think they're all up in Pt Angeles protesting the oil drilling rig tied up out in the harbor.

Re: Where did you fly today?

After the stormy weekend weather blew through, I got to spend an hour on Sunday evening doing pattern work at KEIK. I conned my wife into joining me, and after the second or third lap she took to amusing herself by snapping pictures on her phone. She couldn't have been too bored with views like this to soak in!

Looks like a fun day! Clammed a lot on the Longbeach Peninsula through the years. I think Copalis might be the only place you can legally land on the beach in the State of Washington.

Nice pics =D>

Rob, I think I was pulling up behind you at CLS just as you were leaving the pumps. Either that or someone else has a 170-B that looks just like yours.

Looks like you had a great day.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Did some upper airwork and touch and goes in our variable stability Learjet. Got stuck on the ground behind an X-47 launch and lost about 20 minutes of good flight time. Still a good day at the office.

Also turned in an 89 page test plan my partner and I had a week of late nights to work on. So it was an even better day because of that.

Flew into Daybreak today, it's one of my favorite strips, and just 10 miles from my parents house at W56.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Daybreak's one of my favorite strips too, unfortunately I don't get down there nearly often enough. The Swanson's are really generous allowing anyone to fly in like they do. Hopefully no one will ever abuse that privilege enough to screw that up -- believe it or not, I've seen people try!

Re: Where did you fly today?

I'll pass that along haha, but I will say this is the straightest 180 airframe I've ever seen hands down!!! He just got it from his brother who bought it brand new in 1980, zero damage. Jimmy can fly circles around anyone I know FWIW, but IMO every 180 deserves atleast 29's [emoji13]

Well, don't let him go away all bent- I really meant it- when I look at your picture, or old B&W airplane ads, I realize that my frame of reference for airplane tires is totally out of whack!
